Hi Fudgey and Stone and Bear and Pepper if still here....and everyone else too that went to bed. :)

Yeah, Bear. That's part of why I bring it up. It's sign-up or go-without time. And the dang commercial keeps running.

IDK the diff between bronze, silver, and gold yet either. I know I have to look more at the plans. I think I'm ending up in silver for a few dollars more per month (negligible if I estimate at the bottom end of possible income to qualify). The "durable medical equipment" thing is yet another angle. And IDK if bronze vs silver matters. It's all in the details and I still have to research those. I only looked at high level plan summaries.

Most of the drugs that lady gets are covered as I understand it. But who knows. That's the thing with this stuff....there's so many IF's involved and so much conjecture...IF she needs drug-x and IF durable medical equipment is not covered, and IF something else... And I suspect a lot of those IFs are not new...they have been in some plan or another for a long time.

What I'm really trying to nail down is....what to sign up for. There's so much scare-info out there, that the normal-level-info is getting confused too. I don't consider needing durable equipment like a cane or whatever to be a major problem and IDK why that would be excluded. Limbs are another issue entirely as that's a lot more complicated..but a lot more rare too and should be covered. Sigh.

I understand that experimental drugs and even 1st year drugs are an issue. That sucks if you're the one that needs em. But they didn't even exist last year so you couldn't have had them before. 98% of the stuff (arbitrary figure) should be "standard" though.

Details, details.

Good evening Atty :) Would it be worth talking to a "Navigator" or insurance specialist??

Hiya Atty and Stone :) Good to be home, I always miss my own bed!
I agree about missing your own bed. Hotels give me the creeps anyway . . . I don't mind traveling to a private home, but don't like hotels.

This. Yeah, it's fun to travel, but there's no place like home. (Ignoring the obvious OZ reference completely).

Glad you had a good trip Fudgey. :)

Found another favorite restaurant, a nice little Italian place, homemade bread and sauces. I choose a bad week to go on vacation though.....going to be hard getting up in the am since I have been sleeping late and adding the time change to it. Self torture....

Goodnight everyone :)

Yes it may be. However, since I can't really estimate the income this year, I'm just going to end up with Bear's advice anyway I think. That's presumptuous of me since I didn't give them (specialist) a chance to comment.

Basically, I figure that I shouldn't have to loan the Government much money. So if I make a healthy income I guess I'll just make up the diff at tax time. But if not, they can pay up front as they should anyway. Of course, should I know mid-year that it will be different from estimated, I may be able to change it...IDK. That's part of the confusing thing here. I'm not trying to ride-for-free if I have the income...I just don't know in advance. I'm entitled to be optimistic but conservative at the same time. The conservative side says don't loan them the money...let them loan it to me unless I know for sure that I won't need it. If I knew I'd make a fixed salary, that would be a different situation. My intended freelance stuff is feast or famine. Hoping for feast, planning for famine.

I was thinking more along the lines of using the navigator to learn the difference between Bronze, Silver, and Gold...but I'm sure you'll take care of business :thumb:

Good night again :D

and here we go again! but this time thanks to cassie

atty - navigator or not, the main problem - and i'm sure this will bug you to no end - information is hard to come by ;) you might have to call the providers directly to get details and make an informed decision. in general, the silver plans are best if you should end up with famine in 2014.

morning ......................
