and back to gardening! ;) my favorite tree - an old-fashioned weeping cherry ;) imo, those double-bloom dwarf weeping cherry trees can't hold a candle to this graceful tree! no offense, bear - i know it depends on the application! how is your replacement doing?

The thermometer may say "45" but it's feeling a lot chillier.

Yes, "application". The specific spot where the dwarf weeping cherry went would never be able to handle a tree of THAT ^ size.

It's not a replacement... yet. I see some buds, but have to reserve judgement until it blooms... which will be who-knows-when this year. I'm sure the landscaping guy will take a peek at it when he's here. I hope they are able to start work next week.

Warmed up and going back out.

Heavy rain creates Birmingham area chaos (live updates) | AL.com

That sucks CES.

Remember: don't drive through water that's moving. It looks like it's 2 inches deep....but it could be totally washed out under there. And don't walk through it to check if it's more than 2 inches...you could get swept away!

I know you probably know all that. But there's so many stories about people innocently thinking they'd get through and ....wham! Trouble.

Yep.

I can drive around the spot at the bottom of the hill that's most likely to be flooded on my my way to work. But I'm an opportunist, and am more likely to use it as a reason to dally in getting ready to leave for work.
