Just get one you talk to ...

I will NOT "talk to" appliances. If it works as well and voice telephone menus, then the dishes will never get cleaned.

"I'm sorry. I do not understand your reply."
"I'm sorry. I didn't get that."
"I'm sorry. That is an unavailable choice."
"Did you say 'yes'? Say 'yes' for yes, say 'no' for no."

I have found that if you yell ":censored: you" enough times, you'll get a live person. With sitars and zils playing as "hold" music.

Good morning, Bear. Seems like kitchen applicances do all go at the same time. My dishwasher is a sturdy 8 year old off-brand with no bells, whistles or circuit boards...Roper (by whirlpool).

Glad they're taking the carpet back, Tibs..but what a pain to have to ship it.

they ordered a ups pickup for today ;)

IDK what to tell you about dishwashers, Bear. Just do the research as best you can. However "track history" is almost meaningless these days since even a formerly trustwothy brand name has changed workforces and moved overseas. They are all overseas now, maybe with the high-end stuff being the exception.

And, yes, it makes a difference in quality, IMHO, at least for dishwashers, washing machines, fridges, etc. I'm not sure WHY that is. The claim used to be that overseas workers were BETTER at being consistent and high quality. But once the corporate mentality changes, the quality changes too...probably trying to shave every fraction of a penny of costs to "profit the shareholders"...and quality suffers.

Checking reviews for various products often finds comments like "this is not your grand-daddy's _____ appliance" even though it carries the same brand name.

IDK. Good luck. Go as high end as you can reasonable afford is my only :2c:

I do look at reviews. I'm sure you've seen products, though, with overall 4+ stars having some REALLY negative reviews... and it's a hard task to consider something that has a decent number of 1 and 2-star reviews/comments.

Thankfully, this time, it's not an URGENT GOTTA-HAVE-IT-TODAY thing. I just want to know how to proceed quickly when the time arrives. :)

So, Tibs... those flatware baskets... do the slotted covers come off? Our "flatware" is not very flat and has zero chance of fitting into those slots.

just for you, bear, i located the original basket which i don't use. mine does not have the slots; instead it's a long narrow basket with 8 compartments in a row. way too big for my taste ;)
