I've talked to the guy that found him and put my dog sitter in touch with him. They'll go gather the remains some time this evening. Turns out JD was pretty darn far away, in a direction I've never taken him, so not even close to where the search was centered. go figure. (so of course i'm hoping it was a mistake, even though the guy had the collar and tags and described the collar to me)

i don't think the voltage is the most important part of the setting - amplitude and which contacts are activated are playing a big part. but all i can do is try.
