Nope. No delay for UAB. Lots of the local schools are on delay. Assuming my car starts I'll be at work on time. I'll have to come home at lunchtime to meet the dryer repairman today too.
yesterday's delay is because they weren't sure how much ice would be left after the evening rain/snow. Turns out the wind evaporated most of the water before it could freeze, so ice wasn't an issue. whew!
Today's school delays are to give it time to 'warm up' a bit, so that kids aren't out waiting for the bus in single digit temps (that and most buses here have no heat)

nope, no spawn here. Just beasties. They don't participate in organized sports and will not be attending college any time soon. Maybe next time record cold comes around i won't have ice on the inside of windows

I'm so grateful my neighbor's friend cleared my driveway for me with his snow spitter yesterday (it clears no more than a 2' path, so not really worthy of being called a snow blower/chucker, heheh).
I guess I should add one to my list of home equipment I want to buy this year now that I'm not flushing $$$ down the toilet for my motorcycle habit.

It's freaking 55 degrees in the lab this morning. The other labs and offices are fine, so it's not just something to do with the outdoor temps. I called maintenance yesterday when it was 62 in here. Obviously they haven't done anything to correct the problem yet.

I've done the plastic window insulation on a rental house- the shrink-wrap type works quite well. I can't easily reach the tops of the windows in this house though...i may have to make the effort next year.
