So, physiological pH is around 7.4

I doubt that any amount that you could take into your lungs would be sufficient to alter the homeostatic mechanisms that keep the body at 7.4. Most likely, there wouldn't be enough vapor to even affect the pH of the lungs. There was a short conversation in the THR facebook group in which Konstaninos Farsalinos said that the pH of the liquids he tested was around 8.5, and he and Carl Phillips seemed to agree that decreasing the pH would increase nic absorbtion, but that the vapor would be diluted and end up at about 7.4.

So, I can't imagine small changes in pH having effects on your whole body pH. BUT, If people go for more extreme acidity or alkalinity to try and make it so, there is the potential for cell damage. I have no idea what the range is that the lungs couldn't buffer to ~physiological. But there has to be a point where the lungs couldn't. Think of inhaling bleach fumes - the reason bleach works is because it's alkalinity (~12.6), but it's not exactly healthy for cells.

Atty, this is a flyby and i didn't read the links yet- so i dunno if this is what you were asking about, or whether i got the context of the discussion right. If people really are changing the pH to any extremes, i'd suggest it be moved to the not advisable subforum.

Bolded part is what I was worried about. But yeah, I forgot about PH and nic absorption....didn't even ponder that one.

One other quick note from skimming. Looks like most trying to decrease the pH of the liquid, maybe to improve absorption (?) rather than changing the whole body pH, but baking soda is not gonna lower the pH of liquids, since it has a pH of about 9.

Yeah, but high PH is not good either....
and I assume acids help ward off infection, whereas higher lung PH....IDK.....it's all beyond me. I'm a computer guy. But...doesn't sound like it's worth messing with by DIYers.

Thank you for helping me help. :)
Sometimes I go out on limbs..........

if you'd actually use that rubber band that you keep around your forelimb, the other limbs might not get so far out :p

(I'm not sure that i want to vape what every one else is vaping- i'd have to use VG. I just wish people would think things through and research before experimenting  )

Atty, I'm lurking on the Outside movie theater thread...it looks like it's getting a bit ugly. Are most of them like that?

lol. It comes and goes.
There's a lot of sharp wit there. And insta-jabs. It's "The Outside" after all. You have to have a thick skin.
I'll pop back in and sneak a peek and see what's going on. Now you have me all curious.
I've been laying low in that thread for a day-ish.

OK. I checked. It's about normal. Maybe a little hostile...lots of "troll" name calling. The guy was only joking. But....overall...it's more like an animated drunk pub discussion than a bar fight.

When they start serving all the beer in cans and remove the glasses...you'll know it's time to bail.
