Oh-and-by-the-way, Tiburonfirst... it was on the local news this morning that New York will NOT be a state that extends unemployment benefits.

They can:
...bite
...lick
...eat
me.

Under current federal legislation, the last payable week of Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) was the week ending December 30, 2012.

However, there is a chance that the U.S. Congress will extend EUC. It is also possible that the extension will be retroactive.

Therefore, we advise you to continue to certify for weekly EUC benefits in the usual manner, unless we tell you to file a new claim. Starting with the week ending January 6, 2013, we will store weekly claims for EUC made by those who were unable to collect benefits after December 30. This does not mean you will definitely be entitled to those benefits. However, if Congress passes an extension of EUC that is retroactive, we will be able to make any payments due soon after Congress passes and the President signs a bill.

Please note the Extended Benefits (EB) program ended in New York State on December 9, 2012. At this time, we do not expect the EB program to return, even if Congress passes an extension of EUC.

bear, ebs are paid by the state, eucs are federal benefits - if the bill gets signed you WILL be able to get euc benefits
