that'll cut down on fiddling and would leave you with just the no-resistance leg!
funny though - still haven't gotten my 500 mesh from the co-op and here's the next development

That ceramic wick looks interesting and would be much easier to deal with, if it works like the SS mesh, than having to roll your own. The oddy clone that I have coming at the end of the month does not use SS mesh, only silica wick. I'm stepping out of my comfort zone right now and I don't want to push it too much right now: grasshopper, one hop at a time. I've been using carto tanks for about a year and venturing into rebuildables has been a little overwhelming at this point with all the different ways these things can be set-up.
I'm going to stay with this oddy clone for a while and then, possibly, look into the genesis style attys.

Stop trying to confuse me.
The only way I've seen them done is with silica, and I'm sticking to that story.
