Oooo, yes... and it will be smack in the middle of sightline from most of the deck to the vast horizon that is Lake Ontario. I'm thinking less than 10 feet... OR... if the branches can be pruned up about 8-10 feet. I already have two DWARF Japanese maples in the front. Smaller than regular Japanese maples.

The guy who cuts my hair (CES: it was ear-lowering day today) suggested a dwarf globular lilac.

I have time.

alright - back to the drawing board
don't think crepe myrtles will grow in your zone - pity! much longer blooming season than a lilac - let me go google
