My drive shaft is just fine, Tibs.
Still working on the car's axles and bearings and front differential. Possibly the yoke. It's hell not having a full
shop to work in/with when you're doing this stuff. Crawling around on the cement floor in the winter. I usually end up working for an hour or two and stopping. That's why it's taking so long. However, making good progress. I MAY get it all together today.
Neither the bearings nor the axle came with a washer that's a spacer between the bearing and the nut. So...I have to get rides when people are available to get parts. I may be able to use the washer off the old axle's but I have to cut the bolts off since I couldn't break them loose before. Long story short, it's a PITA without air tools and a full shop. Little things take up hours of time that shouldn't. Sigh.
Should take an hour or less to swap an axle.
The real problem is diagnosing any issues (one thing breaks, and cause something else to break, etc...). So I'm still wondering about the yoke. When I'm done, I'll have new axles, bearings, differential fluid change, and I even ordered new break pads (but it turns out they're OK, so I'll save em for next time.). Wish I had $$$ for new rotors too. Gravel roads/driveways are hell on rotors.
Sorry for the long story.
Good morning.
