Sounds like it's been a contentious week for the Snails - newbie posts for Kat; sub-ohm vaping for myself and Atty

I know...

It's not even the sub-ohm vaping, or the ProVari, or whatever the thingy of the week is, it's just that they are pushing this stuff on the new people. And some of them are so mean and opinionated. It's scary. I get PMs from new folks, thanking me for coming to their defense, they feel so lost sometimes and intimidated... They are afraid to admit they can't afford a ProVari or have no idea how to make their own coils--they are afraid to ask questions.

Why are we so mean to each other? Why is everybody trying to outsmart everybody else? Why this constant pissing contest? 20 watts! 50 watts! I have 10 Provaris and 5 caravelas... I spent 20K on vaping gear in my first three months. What is wrong with people? And it's mostly men, I have to say, regretfully. Is a ProVari some kind of an extension of their ... manhood? There are many women who own a ProVari, like Tibs and Ocelot and tmcase, for example, but they are never obnoxious about it.

And now I'm really done.

Thanks for letting me vent!

it's tweety's fault! ;) just because her answers are impeccably researched she thinks that should be the norm! haha!!!!

Why am I so upset about it? Because I feel sorry for the noobs. I really do, Tibs. The level of intimidation is just unbelievable. I spent two months trying to help them. Other vets are helping too, I have to give them credit. And Baditute is helping a lot, Ocelot, plenty of others.

But I'm getting fed up. Maybe you're right--we should just stay away.

And it's true what I said about my third attempt to buy a ProVari--my mini is still sitting in the cart at ProVapes, but I'm so angry with those fanbois that I lost my appetite. They ruined the whole thing for me. I don't want to be a part of that crowd.

Well. I think you're right...it IS kind of a guy thing to "go big or go home" sometimes. Monster truck. Monster Grill. Monster vapor. Whatever. I wonder if it's more of an ....Ugly-American...thing than not. But I see others from another country do that too. So it's a guy thing I guess. Many of us outgrow the mentality after our teenage years...some take longer...to mellow out. Tim Allen made a whole career of mocking the mentality a bit.

In the end though, we hate to be...too underpowered...so your analogy is probably correct. We don't ask for help either...we're the ones helping the ladies. (I know that's cliché ...but it's a social pressure true or not.)

And to be fair...the ladies expect us to be able to tackle stuff. Look at Fran and Hubby. Look at hubby getting things done. So...it's kind of a social role thing too. Get it done. Get it right. Don't mess around with "junk". All within whatever budget you have.

The ProVari just represents the "go big and get it right" mentality currently. Doesn't mean it really is the best at this point in time. But hey...it ain't bad...as they say. It's a good PV. Don't be too put off.

you don't have to be part of the crowd, lol - and what bothers me is that those fanbois might actually keep people away from buying a good product that deserves a place in the list of top vaping gear.

as to the meanness - who knows!? we had our share of inexplicable behavior ;)

It has kept me from getting one. I swear. I'm so angry.

We sure did, didn't we?

@Atty! It's not an American thing. In Italy, it's the car. In the Middle East--it's the guns. In France, it's the car and the wine cellar. :)

Yeah, I guess we are responsible for that behavior--we all want the alpha male. :) And the alpha male is mean and lean and has ... big things. :D

OK, so should I get a ProVari?

yup!

but the biggest mystery - your problem with the button location, lol! for me, it hits right above the inside of the knuckle of my index finger, very comfortable location for activating :?:

In the short or the extended mode?

Wait, index finger? I tried to activate with my thumb, like I do with my eGos....

Probably what you desire. You're just not obnoxious about it after you get it. ;)

Seriously...they are good PVs. Others are good too...and less expensive. It's really about A) the amps/watts it can push, B) feature set that you like, C) construction, D) costs. Only you can decide. I don't really keep up with it well...since I build em in cheap box mods.

I'll bet Catt and others can give you comparisons to other PVs. Tibby and Fran have a lot of different PV experience too.
