He covered it with dirt or mulch, yes? Or at least raked it in? From what I understand:

The sun's UV will kill the seed. That's why it has to be covered. Once you get water/rain, start watering it daily. (So I've been told).

I try to time it with a week of rain in the forecast ? :) Still not perfect. But I don't have hoses sprinklers in the areas I seeded....

no, they did not! i asked and offered them bales of straw i have in the barn for geoff since they did not bring any but was told they do not cover this time of the year

Maybe I ticked Bear off. He was insulting my avatar just before he left.......???????????

i doubt it, atty - bear usually will voice his displeasure if there is any! ;)

as grumpy as our bear can get - i do miss him coming around. hope all is well in bearland!

Maybe the sun is not direct enough this time of year. They are the experts, not me.

I've been told that it won't come up until Spring if planted up here in Sept. But..."down" there by you, you may have an extended season. Basically it sits dormant until spring thaw. Probably depends on weather/frost too.

seems like google agrees with my memory

However, keep in mind that the ideal time to plant cool season grass seeds is between August 15th and October 15th (depending on your zone and the type of seed you're planting). Too early and the hot weather will burn out your baby grass.

Far as I know:
1) UV rays kill grass.
2) They even make special coated seeds. The coating holds moisture (also critical) but it also helps SHIELD UV RAYS.

Dirt works as a cover. So does straw/mulch. Some people even mix seed and soil 50/50 and throw it around assuming some of the seed is covered.

So....IDK. I don't want to freak you out because they may have raked it (covering some seeds)

Sunday may be too late....hope for clouds/rain. Or good raking.
