Gutters? aren't those where our minds go whenever someone types units of measurement or words that are included in the urban dictionary?

I'll tell you what kind of sewer grates we had when I was a small kid... the kind where the slots were PARALLEL with the road. Do you know what happens when you ride a bicycle over those???
Anyone know of an reasonably priced electrochromic window film....like to cover a sliding door and "black" it out (make opaque) in the direct sun?
Even the "normal" coverings they sell are expensive. I have to get either the cliche vertical blinds (which I like, but it's not geeky) or something else. The current solution I have is not acceptable...and it's driving me nuts. Electrochromic would be cool. Flip a switch and it changes.

ours are sort of like that, but the opening to the drains is bigger. And sometimes the cover is part way off- leaving space enough that on at least one occasion allowed a 4 yr old child to fall in.
