Dropping this off for CES in case she missed it and on the off chance she hasn't heard or couldn't teach them a few things herself:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...039-listen-your-interpenduncular-nucleus.html

I have a friend who studies nicotine receptors in the medial habenula, which is one of the major input centers to the intrapeduncular nucleus. The intrapeduncular has outputs to the ventral tegmental area which goes to the nucleus accumbens (both involved in pleasure and addictive behavior)...so i suspect that it's important. but there's not one single region involved, and all if the regions have other functions as well. Targeting just one region could have some interesting side effects....in a not good way. interesting though. thanks

Oh, and hi y'all

When CES shows up she does a flyby (well, fly over)

I couldn't find one where they didn't nod off...that's not the intent...I just have almost no idea what you said. However, I get the general point and wondered the same (doubted it was that simple). Just thought I'd mention it. :)

CES, you are the only one I know that I'd bother to copy that link for. That's a complement. Or maybe a sad commentary on my lack of people I'd copy that link for.... ;)

However, maybe something great will come of it. Like a drug that's 50x more expensive and has 10x the side effects of nicotine so we can treat nicotine addiction. Or, a vaccine against nicotine. Zombie apocalypse to follow.*

* seriously hoping I didn't just trash anything you're working on...not intentional. Remember I have common bouts of foot-in-mouth.

hehehe..nope, i take it as a compliment...and glad to get the link. And you forgot to mention the potential side effects of any drug attempting to target that area....probably the same as chantix.

and Hi Tibs, and Katya, and Stone, and Mad, and Haze :)

Brain Damage Sheds Light on Urge to Smoke | Science/AAAS | News

Cigarette smokers who suffer damage to a particular brain region often lose the urge to smoke, according to a new study. Although brain damage is hardly a recommended treatment for smokers who want to quit, researchers say the findings provide important insight into the biological basis of addictive behaviors.
