So... I get a letter today from my health care provider (for well over 20 years) that I "do not have a PCP on file" and would I please fill out their form. Please note that my "member number" under the new ACA plan is the EXACT SAME 11-digit number I have had for... well... over 20 years. And... I have been seeing my current PCP for... well... over 15 years.
But, I "do not have a PCP on file".
I filled out their inane form and hand-wrote a message that this kind of
is why premiums are so high... doing unnecessary and that they please give me a call. And, I will also contact the NY New York State insurance Department at
http://www.ins.state.ny.us to report this squandering of insuree's money.

ETA: Do NOT tell me to "calm down". I am VERY calm. But we - everybody - should take this kind of waste SERIOUSLY. It affects ALL of us. And it is time to take back our $$$ by eliminating this kind of crap from the system AND our lives.
ETA II: Where is the "informational packet" that cements my new policy in place? I place a value on that kind of communication since it is different than in the past. I would appreciate some closure to the debacle that is, was and will be, ACA.

I am not sure that ACA itself is THE reason/cause for the note. It is possible that everything was reset to "default". Even then, when my member number, name and address do not change, I am not sure why I would magically change PCPs in mid-stream... much less BEFORE ACA even take effect (01jan14).
My feelings remain.
I did not SILENTLY put up with bureaucracy, red tape and other obstacles while I was working. I have decided - with that note - that I refuse to put up with it going forward... silently and sheep-like. I have the time to make other people's lives as hard as they make mine.

I've decided that since I have until March to sign up and not be in default, and since I don't have it now, and since even if I don't get it I get a $95.00 fine......I'll wait a bit. Let Bear and the others get the kinks out. The constant "re-schedule" has already driven the companies nuts and it hasn't even started yet. lol.
So maybe I'll sign up in Jan or Feb once they get their crap straight. Month two should be a bit better.
