except there'd be even more abuse - most don't know when antibiotics are appropriate to use ..............

Yes. That's always been the argument. But in this case....it was a SECONDARY infection....something that's debatable for getting antibiotics anyway is (primary infection) flu. So...if he had "ignorantly" taken them, it might be alive today. Assuming he took enough for long enough. Irony, that.

If the USA had a medical system that was effective and approachable I guess you could argue that OTC is not necessary. But it doesn't. It's the most expensive and like 30th on the list of effectiveness.

Besides...look at the history the guy had (per CES)....swearing off doctors is not at all surprising...

I'm sure it's a lot more complicated than that. But sheesh!

... oh, and I go on the provider's website to - once again - TRY TO GET CONFIRMATION of my policy. What do I see under "deductible"???...

There is no Deductible information found for this plan.

The system was unable to fulfill your request. For assistance, please call eSupport at 1-888-656-5695.

ooops! morning, atty, catt and bear!

That's better Tibs. :)

Now I can start my day. :)

BTW....never once this a.m. did I mention ACA nor allude to it being the solution. I was mostly talking about OTC and approachability.
Excuse me m'am....your slip agenda is showing....

WHICH ONE?!?!?! EVERYTHING is maddening!!! Why - OH WHY - is NOTHING EASY anymore?!?!?! No, really, seriously. EVERYTHING is made to be a CHORE. Not "made out to be" a chore... but an ACTUAL chore.

because the government gets involved!

That's interesting. I was going to blame computers....and stupid industry PCP rules that shouldn't exist....

And ANOTHER ex-work-group get-together!!! (Recall: Last one in August at the YACHT CLUB)

Happy 2014 - It is time to renew friendships and have a little fun at the 2nd annual BR Alumni Reunion. Many of you thought it would be good idea to do this in January when it is cold and we are waiting for spring. So I have made arrangements for us to gather once again at (name). Here are the details.

Date: Wednesday, January 29th
Time: 5:30-8:30ish
Where: (name)- Hwy. 441 in lovely downtown Penfield (next door to (another name))
Costs: $15 (same as last year with cheese & crackers, penne vodka, artichoke french, fried calamari and calamari scampi )
Bar: Full Cash Bar

Entertainment: White Elephant (yes we will have that mystery fruit cake and I'm sure some of you have something you received during the holidays...approximate value $10 - let's be creative)

---

So... I am confused...

"2nd Annual"... there have been TWO gatherings prior. This would be "3rd". But, it has not even BEEN 2 full years yet. It's no wonder Kodak went down the tubes, huh?

I do plan to attend this one, weather/driving permitting.

 may i be so bold as to ask what was the 'elephant' you were referring to? :D

The fact that the health care system failed him. He had a huge debt, past history of treatments causing problems, and a fear of doctors doing more harm than good. Basically, the ineffectiveness part. The unapproachable part. The expensive part...Of the problem.

Regardless of new, or old, or yet-to-be-invented insurance.
