I got mine on eBay. The kanthal anyway, the nichrome I got from Jacobs Online (.biz). I've not noticed any difference between the two, although some prefer one over the other.

That looks good Fran. I got 100ft kanthal and 100 ft nichrome 32g last spring and I probably still have 75% of it left. And that's just because I've messed up half of what I've used

I think it's harder to wrap.
With the thicker wire, you can make LR coils with more wraps than a thinner wire. OK if you like LR or make larger coils.
