Tired of "Progress" messing with consumers. Tired of having to upgrade stuff (even though some of it is 10 yo technology)... Tired of DRM forcing standards and upgrades on people, and the manufacturers go along with it because it means more sales (but doesn't really solve any piracy problems), and just tired of companies (like ATI) dropping support on stuff. And manufacturers not putting (Requires DVI...won't work with DVI to VGA converter) on the OUTSIDE of the box (but put a note on the inside where you can't see it before you buy it...guess I should have looked closer/checked specs).
So now I need a new monitor. Need one anyway. But if I don't have a computer that works well and is supported, I'll go nuts. So here I am, probably should have purchased Nvidia instead of ATI, and now regretting it AGAIN. OTOH...NVidia probably did the same thing. Sigh.
And although there's work-arounds and I could have avoided this whole headache....it's one of the very few things I indulge in every few years (even then I stretch the dollar a lot). Sigh.
Oh well.

thanks for the fix, bear! and yup, you're right there is just no hope ............. and when you call all they know is location! no matter that even my cell phone was 'searching for a signal' with none to be found and no matter that a cell phone has been getting a signal here for the past 20 yrs. well, the signal is back; guess my trees must have held it hostage for a couple of hours

and don't second-guess yourself - remember my nvidia fiasco! yup, it was replaced, together with the motherboard, but with the same thing and support is no longer available and hasn't been for long time
Well we have a total of 24 cabinets (I think) going in the kitchen. I have only 5 cleared and ready so I will be very busy tomorrow. I'm tired just thinking about it. 2 walls are sheetrocked. Tomorrow the other window should be going in so we can finish the wiring and sheetrock that wall. Still tons to go but it's slowly getting there.
