Sooo the nipple and positive pin shaft on my one week old Reo snapped together yesterday.

First two days ago the tube detached from the nipple assembly, then yesterday as I was changing the bottle the nipple and a part of the positive pin shaft came with the tubing. The assembly had just broken together on top of the shaft threads.

Is this a common occurrence ??
I'm a bit annoyed about this because now those parts of the repair kit are spent so i need at least another one asap and international shipping is not cheap :(
Besides i just received another Reo yesterday and didn't order a repair kit because i figured one would be enough for now

That stinks man .... not common at all though I remember a post a few weeks back where someone said it kept happening when changing bottles ??

Had no idea then nor now how or why it would happen. I assumed they were doing something very wrong but IDK.

All I can add is I've used REOs every single day for nearly 4 years and never had a problem. Never had a tube come off or anything break ever.

Good luck .... glad you have a second REO there to use at least.

OUCH! That just SOUNDS painful!!!8-o
It does occur once in awhile....and IIRC a 510 connector replacement is the only REAL solution -- yeah....you'll probably spend as much in international fees getting the part(s) as sending your whole unit back to Rob!!!
I'd PM Rob to see what HE recommends here....He'll be able to arrive at the most cost-efficient solution for you!!;)
Good Luck!
Happy (vaping) Trails!

PM redeyedancer (Robert) and let him know what happened.

The tubing should have been put on with a little super glue and not just slid off.

Did you pull on the tubing prior to this happening? Did you try to remove the cap? Just wondering if any pressure was placed on that post piece.

To clarify the Reo is now in working order as I had a repair kit and could replace the needed parts.

As to how it can happen my best guess would be one of those :

- After seeing how you tighten the nipple to the shaft i suppose theres's a possibility of damaging the nipple and shaft while screwing with the pliers if you apply too much pressure or maybe a bad angle. I know i didn't feel at ease while screwing it because there is nothing to grip with the pliers so you have to press.
So i guess my pin could have been more of less DOA because of that, and when replacing you could keep making the same error which would lead to more snapping.

- In another thread someone mentioned that the recent tubings are "nearly indestructible", which could mean that it put more strain on the nipple when changing the bottle and holding it at an angle. I was doubtful at first but now I wonder. The tubing does yank the pin and shaft in every directions when changing the bottle after all.
If this is the case then maybe not having the tubing glued could help as it would slide off if excessive tension is applied instead of yanking on the nipple.

Maybe I did something stupid while refilling but i don't see what, i just put the reo upright, unscrew the bottle then put the reo flat on the table and hold the tubing at a 45° angle while refilling. Then i put it upward again to reattach the bottle.
I did pull on the bottle quite a bit several time at first to have the bottle sitting on the bottom of the reo, so that's probably why the glue didn't hold long.

I have and use lots of REO's. Never had a tubing slip off or had the pin snap.

You are right that the tubing is pretty indestructible. It should not crack or split easy.

We really need to be careful when lifting the bottle to remove for a refill. I have caught myself slipping my finger up near the top and the nipple side of the cap. Sometimes when the bottle is on too tight it is tricky to not pull upwards on the tubing. Lots easier with the battery removed first.

I have not have any problems with the tubing coming off when tugging the bottle and cap down a little.

I still believe a PM to Robert would be best.

How long did you have the first REO before it broke ... and was it new ??

Just wondering ..... I'd still PM Rob and let him know what happened just incase he doesn't see this thread.

The best way for him to track problems or potential bad parts is to hear about every issue.
(Poor Rob ... your welcome buddy) :D

EDIT: ^^ As always pretty much what nerak just said!

I had to replace too many caps due to the juice I use which means pulling them off and forcing them on the tube multiple times causing a lot of stress to the tube an nipple/nozzle. In all those times I never had any issues with them which is saying a lot because I am heavy handed an rough in doing so.

Normally it would take a pair of pliers to break that nipple off, and you would have to remove the delrin cover to do that. Never heard of a nipple letting go. I doubt you could break it just by yanking on the tube. Good thing you bought a rebuild kit with your first Reo, no-one would have expected you to need it, not for a very long time. I'm sure Rob will keep you happy.
