Sadly, this type of behavior can be found in just about everything and I do mean EVERYTHING! I can speak to motorcycles, guns and ammo, gun holsters, racing, mountain and tandem bikes, smoking pipes, cigars....well you get the idea. Have I seen this in vaping? Being the Cranky Old Man that I am, sure! And while I don't have a lot in common with the kids that hang out in my local B&M besides vaping....it seems to be enough. They are used to seeing me with an ePipe and I am used to seeing them, mostly, blowing clouds big enough to darken a major city.

I have been criticized for owning a Harley, for not owning a Harley,,, for owning the wrong Harley, for pipes too loud, for pipes not loud enough, for buying Peterson, Savanili and Dunhill seconds.....,"my God....did you see that. That's a Peterson SECOND. What a geek." Same for cigars. "You call that a good smoke?"Got this once, "Do you seriously think you can protect yourself with that piece of crap Kimber 3" Ultra 1911?" "I see you have a Colnago Master. It's not carbon fiber you know." "Why didn't you get a 335 ES 1965. That Les Paul will suck especially with those cheap pick-ups."

So we have "elitists" surrounding and judging us everywhere we go. When I run into them, I remind them of one on my favorite Country Songs,,, you can sing along with me: "I used To Kiss Her Lips.....But I left Her Behind For You"

I don't bother at the moment with vape shops because i have yet to find one that caters to what i want. I live in hope though.
As for 'hipster' vaping, it sounds awfully like the small groups of 'real ale' drinkers i occasionally see in pubs. They generally have a condescending attitude to anyone who drinks mass produced alcohol. Personally i find them funny, preaching on the 'sublime hopiness and nutty fruit aroma' of their beer.
I drink to get drunk. I vape to satisfy my addiction.
I guess everything that can be turned into a contest will be. Human beings, what a funny bunch we are......

But I think it would be more productive for the OP to approach those "hipsters" you are referring to and try to strike up a bit of conversation.

This never works with hipsters. Hipsters need to be approached like your first day in prison. When you walk into a vape shop with snooty hipsters, you need to quietly grab a chair and beat the snootiest hipster (this is off course after pulling his wool cap down over his face. They all wear one 24/7 no matter what the season.) with it so everyone knows not to mess with you. Afterwards, you can make it up to the hipster by giving them Gummy Bears. All hipsters love Gummy Bears

I think it all boils down to educating yourself afterall this is an electronic device that has advanced significantly throughout the years, as most know RDA's produce the best flavor / vapor and here recently juice vendors are targeting that area which is known as the drip line 80- 100% VG.I wasn't there to hear the conversion but I would have to only assume if the employee was educated they were trying to tell you that you shouldn't try to vape 100% VG in a clearo as it's more trouble than it's worth to wick without adding distilled water and by then what flavor is left, you will notice some vendors selling clearos even stating on their site to use a specific 50/50 blend because of all the bad reviews of people trying to vape high VG and having so many problems.
It's MASS MARKETING people we want and need anyone and everyone that is 18 and over to be involved, call them what you may, some trying to quit smoking after 40 years some because they shouldn't, I'm sorry but you will have underpaid employees that hate there job giving you mis leading or bad service in most all of the sales industry's.

We have a small group in our town who like to blow clouds where ever they go they have turned some cafe and pub owners against vaping and not allowing it anymore I don't know what kit they have. As me and the wife were in town today we had to pass them and as we went past one of them called me a chinaman and laughed out of curiosity I asked what he meant he said "cheap China mod and cheap China tank China man". Never heard that term before and they are right I was using my sig50 with a lemo and also right that it's a cheap setup because I'm on benefit and cannot afford a nice fancy setup. There are people out there getting stupid about vaping whether they are looking down their nose at people they don't feel have a good enough setup or your not doing it their way so must be doing it wrong.

It's bad enough for me to deal with it what the hell does it say to non vapers about us as a group personally I don't care what kit people are using if it works for you all power to you I don't see myself as any better or worse then anyone else. Perception is everything and a small group of idiots can have an effect way out of proportion to the number of them.

I kind of like hipsters, my eldest and her guy are hipsters, right down to working at an "artisan" grocery store leaving corporate America, I "get it". If I were 25 again I'd probably be a hipster too with my daughter's bumper stickers "my compost brings all the flowers to my yard" *lol*

they were just rude, there's snotty & rude everywhere not just in our 'youngsters'. *shrugs*

I have been in shops with people who were awesome, kind and helpful (both staff and patrons alike) and shops where people were rude and obnoxious. I don't go back to the latter.

I don't like labels like hipster because in both cases I could have labeled all of the kind and not so kind people "hipster". I myself have been labeled many a different label in my life, whatever, I'm a person. Labels mean nothing and are just a way of passing judgment before getting to know someone for who they are.

Perhaps if you have such a preconceived notion of someone based on what gear they use and how they dress it may color your interpretation of how your interaction is with them? Just a thought. Not saying that some people aren't jerks because they are, but preconceived notions color what you see and hear.

Just my :2c:

i'm not judging anyone for the way they look or their gear, it's the other way around. They judge me because I don't dress like them or use their gear, and that's what I'm complaining about. I don't care what you look like or your gear, just don't be a .... about it. And the people in that shops are ..... and I don't plan on going back.

Also when I refer to hipsters I am not necessarily referring to a style of dress or the way someone looks. When I say "snooty hipsters", I am not saying all hipsters are snooty. I was referring to the ones that ARE snooty.

Also, I am female.

I know using vg-only is a pain in the .... in clearos... but it's what I choose to vape. Because pg blends make me cough. Also, when I asked this guy for an aerotank he told me they were out of aerotanks and pulled out a protank 3 and a unitank... told me the unitank was the better of the two and that it had adjustable airflow... bought the unitank. Got home, found out it is notorious for sucking and does not have adjustable air flow. The guys in that shop are jerks. I think they smelled out a noob and lied and took advantage. The only reason I went is because my husband is at work with the car when most vape shops are open, he doesn't get home until 8:30 pm and they are open until 2 am.

Funny, as I was trying to be polite! It's usually my first approach. Based on the reaction, I adjust. Sometimes, they adjust. Depends on a lot of factors, including hipster courage... ;-)

I don't mean to offend anyone,
and I kind of went on a tangent about this in the e-liquid forum when I mentioned 100% vg juice so sorry if it is repetitive, but I thought I'd mention it here. We have a vape culture here that really bothers me. The epitome of it would be this downtown craft beer bar/vape lounge full of condescending hipsters dripping. Anyone who does not drip is inferior, and when I asked if they have any vg-only eliquid as I have a hard time with pg-containing liquids, the employee told me vg-only is only for dripping (is that a pretty widely held belief? I use 100% vg in my clearo and it clogs coils up quickly but hey, I prefer the vapor). I do not drip because I have a 1 year old son and do not want bottles of liquid sitting around. Also, I am vaping as a healthier and, for me, cheaper alternative to smoking, and I get dirty looks for having an ego-style battery (vision spinner 2 is it right now, getting back into vaping after reverting to smoking for a while). It's not about the way people choose to dress, or the fact that they like craft beer, it's the fact that they are "cooler" than anyone who chooses differently. I don't think I'll ever go back into that shop because of the attitude.

It is true this earth would be great without hipsters, but they are giving you good advice not to use 100vg. Clearo's can't wick 100vg quick enough and will destroy your coils quicker.
