Really?? really?? I wish they would have covered the horrid taxing increasing to non use facing down the pipeline.

And the emo fruit smoking a pack a day and a 10 portion run a day?? seriously could they have interviewed a slightly less ......ed genetic mistake?

I think poor Justin was chosen as the poster child intentionally. Wide, somewhat wild eyed "musician" well, harm reduction took a back seat to that freak show!
We need a "Funny Post" smiley here for you and Dred OTD!!!

HEY CBS!! cancel that crap!! your reporters and producers are just slightly less ......ed than the window licker you freaking interviewed "YAH!" ... the edit job was horrid and bounced around and made zero sense to why they were suddenly dropping the middle aged anti matron in the middle.

What a hatchet job clueless piece.

OH ya 60 minutes lost the talent it once had and now is just getting what ever old wrinkle sack dipwad reporters. FANTASTIC journalism there guys.

I wonder how long it took them to find someone who uses snus and smokes to put the slant they wanted on that piece. Also I would have loved to read the questions they posed to the kids who took their poll. The kids were probably from a catholic or other religious school who did answer those questions. for me 60 min. has really gone down hill in the last 15yrs.

Now settle down boys...(toe tap)....it could have been much more destructive...like the complete devastation I was expecting. Major scores for us were the ol' nic addiction guru who rightly referred to the Royal College of Physicians study. ...."THE STUDY" if you will. He accurately reflected their findings and basically said the biggest downside of switching from smokes to snus is that individuals still had an addiction, but other than that........ Sure, things could have been more in-depth, the "quit or die" lady could have discussed her fried food addiction (something she appeared to have lots of knowledge of) and they could have been more focused on the Swedish guy who successfully switched instead of Mr 10 portion/20 smoke a day meathead, but hey, they gotta have ratings. All in all it was still generally positive and better than I expected. The biggest downside was the junk Camel snus plugs and the Orbs/Tic Tac comparison....stupid on both accounts. I'd give it a 7/10. Lots better than the -9/10 I'd figured on.

Well...it looks like Carla is cranky because she might be losing her job soon....

Indiana's anti-smoking agency could be snuffed out

They are trying to get rid of her group and let the state do her job.

Anyway...if they want to ban snus and orbs then I think they should ban big pharma's losenges and patches. It's still nicotine.

I am so disapppointed in comments here from Dredbull and OTD. That was a very positive piece for harm reduction. The guy was downright appealing to the masses (what on earth do you find objectionable about him?). The Swedisn doctor's comments should be put on a harm reduction poster. The anti woman was awful and gave us no studies to back up her falsehoods.

WE WON.

Go over to the News section, where this is being intelligently discussed and read the posts there, particularly from Bill Godshall.

This was first-rate journalism -- NOT promotional propaganda that you might want and will never see -- and 60 Minutes has been and remains a bastion of excellent reporting.

I really don't get the ugliness and bitterness here. It's just uncalled for.

I thought it was a good piece, too. It came across to me as a very unbiased report, showing differing viewpoints. The anti-tobacco woman in Indiana did a pretty good job of making herself look like someone who can't see the forest for the trees. All her protestations were invalid. These products are not marketed to kids, not sold to anyone under 18, do not look like candy and can't be marketed as anything other than an alternative when you can't smoke. Anyone with a brain could see right through her propaganda. But then there are far too many people without brains in this country ;)
