Do we have any rough idea about if and when this might become reality? I'm itching to get a wood mod, but I don't want to start trolling the classifieds if these might see the light of day within the next 6 months or so.

Hoping by years end. Perhaps Rob will pop in and give us an update. I'd love to see pics of his shop also.

Sure would like to see pics of prototypes. I heard there will be two types. I seem to remember Rob saying one will look like the last run woodvils and another would look similar to the grand.

We'll see. On the last Woodvil run it did go past projected sales dates at least once, pushing them at least a month past the original estimated date. It happens. Rob won't issue an official date for when they will go on sale until pretty close to that actual date - like within two weeks of them being ready. And this is going to be a new design with the mechanical insert so I wouldn't be looking for a firm date for over another three months minimum. Waiting and watching on that last Woodvil sale date to finally become firm was downright exhausting.
Having said that, troll away in the classifieds! It's not like these things lose their value, especially the Woodvil's because each one is unique. That's assuming you can grab one when they get posted - Woodvil's come and sell exceptionally quick, some times within minutes of being posted.
Of course, this all depends on what you want to run on it. If it's gotta be a 0.5 ohm build then the current Woodvil's wouldn't be a good choice.

man I have been waiting for the mech woody for so long. If they come out during xmas time I get myself 1 and my wife one as well. She doesn't smoke or vape so its a win win for me haha
I will do wood mods as soon as I can my friend I can definitely tell you it wont take six months
