I have both a provari and a reo grand, they're both great, just different.

They're both rock soild.

The reo will make a carto-tank useless, theres no reason for a tank when you have a 6ml bottle that feeds directly into the carto.
If you get the rm2 your evods will be obsolete and collect dust.
The rm2 RBA is a beast sitting atop a reo, its dripping without the need to drip and can't flood as the excess drains back to the bottle.
All-on-all I'm loving the Reo.

The provari is super consistent and lets you fine tune your vape with accurate VV.

It provides the same power throughout the life of your battery, meaning same vape from beginning to end.

The Provari is a very foolproof apv because if it won't allow you to screw up, if anything goes wrong (i.e. hard short or too many amps) it won't fire, thus keeping you safe without having to worry.
My provari has served me flawlessly and I still dig it.

Both provari and Reo have excellent customer service, but I have to give the edge to Rob at REO mods because he goes above and beyond constantly and is very active on Ecf.

Both provari and reo recommend using AW batteries in their mods, I'd recommend using AWs as well.

In the end no matter which way you decide to go I highly doubt you'll regret it. I don't regret buying either. They are both very well made and perform great.
You can always do what I did and buy one and use it for 6-12 months and then buy the other. :)

P.s. both hold their value very well so you can always sell either on the classies for nearly what you paid new.

Good luck on a very tough decision.

Just to add to the postings about the VMOD XL. I recently got one about a week ago and it's all I have used since the day I got it. Bad already covered most of the pros and cons, but I will just add there is a 50% code this week (I don't know when the week ends) at Vapage for 50% off. So you can get the XL for $42 and change plus shipping. Which is an absolute steal.

It's just like dripping with the taste, flavor and vapor but with the portability of an APV and tank setup. Who said you can't drip and drive? I seriously can't vape my EVODs now, they are just so muted.

You can use carto's or attys with the VMOD, the atomizer has worked best for me. I am currently using their slant coil hybrid at 2ohms and it gives a really nice vape. There was a learning curve as Bad stated - I have flooded the crap out of the atty by squonking when I should have been just tilting and I've had the worst God-awful dry hit that I have ever had from any device too. It made my eyes bleed (it didn't, but it felt like it did)

It has far surpassed every expectation of mine. I think there might be a REO in my near future and something woody too - but I just ordered another VMOD today for now. At full price it's a good mod, at half price it's almost too good to be true.

Another vote for a reo grand +reomizer2. You wont look back. I gave away all my sticks and tubes after a week with that combo. Plus, i hate the look of smoking a pole. The reo is very discrete and durable. With a reomizer2 on too you can even put it in your pocket and walk, sit, stand, and work without fear of leakage or messing up the 510connection. Well worth the money. Plus there are alot of reo users who will give you advice, help, and even teach you how to easily build the most delicious diy coils for your reo/reomizer. Even the owner/modder is active on this forum for advise. A win/win

I own both provari, and reo and I can tell you they both are amazing mods, and both built like a tank. My personal preferance is the reo just because of the conveince factor. I fill my bottle up in the morning put a battery in and Im set for the day. I have used both like I said and in my opinion and yes its only my opinion you cant get a better throat hit, taste, and vapor production than in a reo combined with an Rm2, and yes I have tried many high end RBA's on my provari, they just dont compare to a reo with a RM2.

If you do go with a Provari, Baditude is right about the Tatroe rings. You can have a small Mod in your pocket using 18350's or with the rings, you can make it mid size or full size vape all day.

I just got my VMOD today so I cant comment yet. I dont own a REO (yet) but only hear good things.

PS... This may sound strange, but the Provari will make you TASTE the flavor of your juice better/more than what your using. Im not kidding. There is just something about that 800MHZ chipset that gives you a better vape. You will see....

:thumb: Let me expand this for her... as does your VapeSafe fuse, the hot spring disconnects one end of your battery from its terminal, ie. the battery can't touch both terminals at once and is disconnected. It is erroneous to say they have no safety features.

That's really good to know! I've vacillated sooo often pulling the trigger on the VMod, that was my only reason for not getting one. Wonder if that 50% off coupon is still valid...;)

Edited to add: Yep, still valid! just bought a silver VMod 2.0!! Thanks guys :toast:

But, if I wanted to, could I still run a carto tank on the REO? Just curious as I have a few IBT's that I absolutely love....I know I can run bottom feeder RBAs and cartos and regular drip atties on them....

yes - anything with a 510 connector that will fit in the dripwell.

Sorry in advance, I didn't read the whole thread.

I have a ProVari mini and a Reo mini. They are my favorite devices - both very solid and well made. I use the ProVari with a standard cap. They each have a specialty. The ProVari is for my carto tanks/dripping/Protanks/whatever and different flavors. The Reo has my favorite flavor, since I don't feel like switching bottles. The ProVari, in my opinion, is more versatile, since I can put a wider variety of juice delivery systems on it. But the Reo, with a 1.5Ω atty and my favorite juice kicks major bunnybut! Kick back - squonk, sqounk! Happy Ocelot!

800 MHz is 800 million cycles per second. That's a frequency in the AM Radio Broadcast Band. According to the post with the video of a Provari on an oscilloscope, it has an 800 Hz (cycles per second) chipset (one one-millionth of 800 MHz). This is an audio frequency a bit below what you hear Morse Code at in the movies. Some Provari owners report hearing their mod, and at that frequency it's a reasonable assertion. Provari owners compare it to the 33.3 Hz chipset used in cheaper Chinese mods, known as the "rattlesnake" sound, also an audio tone down in the subwoofer range. If you like the taste of higher frequency, you should try a Joyetech eVic for taste. IIRC, pbusardo found it around 104 kHz (kilohertz or about 104,000 cycles per second). This is a frequency 5X the highest audio humans can hear and around 130 times higher than a Provari. The eVic should taste much much better. ;)

I got my first ProVari (mini) in July for my 2 year vape-a-versary. Just ordered another one yesterday :D

The feeling of knowing that it's not going to crap out anytime soon is such a relief to me, I now understand why people love them so much.

Here's the link to the clearance section:

Clearance

That black V2 is looking pretty foxy....

Oh, I have a ProVari I got in early June. It's totally awesome and I love it. I recommend them to anyone, great vape, great device, durable, first rate service, american made, voltage is far more accurate than anything else I have tested.

I bought an MVP when they first came out...it's sitting the Hurricane drawer (South Florida). That's why the Reo doesn't float my boat. I don't seem to like the box mods, but many, many people love them to death.

It's all about personal preference ;)

It sounds like the OP won't go wrong getting either the Reo or Provari. Both are considered the top mod in their class. Probably will end up owning both before a year is up.

OP could get a Mini Provari with a couple of Tatroe extension rings. Try to catch a 50% off sale for the VMod to get a feel for a bottom feeder before deciding whether to get a Reo (with or without variable voltage) . This would be my plan of action, but I'm good at spending other people's money. :D

I am thinking I might just go this route... Maybe I can talk the SO into the one I don't get as a Christmas gift? I do have to say though, after looking at the provari's new 2.5 body, I'm not a fan of the full sized it uhm....looks...ribbed. The 2.0 and the mini's are fine, but the fullsized...

Maybe I'll get lucky stalking the classies.... (though, right now its nothing but mechs.. and not even REOs, but tube mechs. le Sigh)

Thanks for all the excellent information guys!!!

Since you like the v2.0 and considering the classifieds, are you aware Provape has a clearance section - Clearance - where they sell v2.o at a moderate discount (and full warranty) as well as new v2.5 slightly blemished at discount. You can get a new Provari for as little as $140.

I didn't care for the new design of the regular size Provari initially, but it has grown on me; especially after seeing one in the flesh. I think I actually like the new design more than the old now. But that's just me.
