halo claims to be 100% diacetyl free aswell I have read that somewhere , which im sure now and days every company / e liquid maker claims they liquid to be free of diacetyl . what halo liquids are you vaping ?

I'd venture to say about 95% of e-juice makers claim "diacetyl Free", making Dr Konstantinos findings that 69% of 159 e-juices tested contained diacetyl troubling to say the least.

I started with Halo, did a lot of research, read through the Halo supplier thread. Halo's philosophy is all about purity of ingredients and providing as safe an e-liquid as possible- which means not a single ingredient comes from PRC, which is important to me.

I actually have all of their liquids- with the exception of their coffee flavors. Today I have tobaccos in my rotation- Captain Jack, Freedom Juice, Hx3 and Southern Classic.

Halo lab tests everything, so I am positive they don't contain diacetyl.

Good info I'm really stuck on five pawns flavors but I will have to check out some of halo liquids.

Preliminary results of over 150 flavours tested showed 69% contained Diacetyl. This includes flavours from some vendors that claim Diacetyl Free. Go to 1:21:30 to listen

He did not disclose which flavours and companies in this interview, he may or may not when the written report comes out

To me that would of been the thing to do is say which vendors / company's they claim had diacetyl in it with proof of their testing. I hear liquids before mixing process can have traces of it but unlikely once liquid is mixed and done right .

The point of the study wasn't to call out names. It was to determine if Diacetyl was frequently occurring in e-liquids. And it appears that it is. Dr. Konstantinos also makes the point that e-liquids don't have to contain negative substances. So hopefully, this will put the industry on alert and make our vapes safer!

When the 1st ejuice company is sued out of existence and the owner into bankruptcy for having Diacetyl in the products while claiming they are Diacetyl free, that might be a wakeup call. All I can do as a consumer, is to believe what I am being told by the company and persons whom I'm buying product from(and do as much research as possible), if I choose not to go the DIY route and pay the extra for my ejuice to be made for me, then what can I do other then go by what the company is telling me? A tricky slope for sure, but it is what it is.

Oh you are much too kind. This is criminal endangerment if done knowingly (which certainly appears true in some cases), or criminal negligence in the case of shear stupidity. Both are felony crimes punishable with imprisonment.

Remember this issue first reached prominence in the vaping arena in 2010 -- and was widely discussed. At this juncture microwave popcorn makers removed it from their products. And popcorn is not a product intended for direct inhalation. I have zero sympathy for any continuing to peddle such products to consumers without direct disclosure of diketone contents. It is unethical, immoral and indeed criminal. My $.02.

If your really worried about vaping chemicals, Orb, Velvet Cloud, and Virgin Vapor all offer 100% organic blends(at a fraction of the price of five pawns liquid for the record), but honestly i more worry about vaping PG than Diacetyl at the amounts it would occur in the flavor(most likely under 1% maximum) PG absorbs water, which seems unhealthy besides that its a man made chemical http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/substances/toxsubstance.asp?toxid=240 shows PG toxicology report and distilled water can be added to VG liquid to give it throat hit

Ok well im new to the vaping scene - was a pack a day smoker malboro reds . Recently converted over to vaping , the news and media are doing a good job at scaring those who are new to this world by trying to pinpoint chemicals in the juices that will kill. They are doing a good job protecting tobacco companys as if they are not known to kill and cause cancer , I don't understand .

I daily vape and pretty much found the flavors im happy with they are :

Five Pawns - Grandmaster
Five Pawns - Castle Long
Five Pawns - Gambit
SpaceJam - Starship 1
SpaceJam - Astro
Suicide Bunny - Mothers Milk

My question is are these main companys really diacetyl free ? I put my body thru heavy smoking thru out the past 14 years and as im getting older the fear of cancer is now starting to wake me up . I try to lean towards the more expensive juices so I can have a little peace of mind that im not doing the same amount of damage as smoking a cig . I know crème flavors are the ones to watch out for but it seems to be the flavors I like the most . any advice ? :vapor:

Maybe if you are fearful, you would feel more comforted ordering only organic juices? Maybe this isnt the case but there are many companies that sell 100% organic ejuice. virginvapor.com is one of these comapnies and is a fantastic company I recommend to everyone

I'm not going to go on a full blown rant about Diacetyl and Acetoin or speculate on how dangerous it may or may not be, but there's some misinformation I'm seeing repeated in this thread that need to be addressed.

1) The cost of your juice is irrelevent in regards to these molecules.

2) The juice vendor claims of being Diacetyl free are, in most cases, worthless. The fact is they don't know and at best are simply parroting what their flavor suppliers are telling them. We're talking about trace amounts of these molecules and very few people are testing to that level of precision. Remember, if something tests as being 99.9% pure, there's still 0.1% of something else in it.

3) These are naturally occurring molecules. "Organic" flavors are just as, if not more, likely to contain them as lab-manufactured flavors.
