anyway , am i missing something or do people boil their atomizers to clean them ? it just seems like it would ruin the hell out of it... aren't there circuits and wires in there?

Grimm--As a last resort many do--I have and have gotten mixed results--at best whimpy--but others post they swear by it--so if you have a dead one, give it a go. As for a good one--IMO--no way as preventive cleaning--Sun

i just run hot water through mine and blow through it afterwards, usually everytime I switch flavors of juices. Works great for me, im on the same Evo atomizer now for 2 months! No kidding..

One recommendation i will make if you are thinking of boiling. Don't let the atmoizers bounce around on the bottom of a pan. I'll hold them off bottom by putting them on a slotted spoon or something similar. I think i killed one of mine by allowing it to bounce around too much and that could of broke loose a not too well soldered wire.

I actually pulled apart my one dead atomizer yesterday. I was bored at work and wanted to know just what is inside one of them things. All there is for electrics is two wires going and a heating element. No pcbs or chips or anything. The wires are about the thickness of a dogs hair so i try not to bump mine too much.

So far for the last three weeks the blow, stand and drain method seems to be working just fine.

all the electronics are in the battery, dont boil that . i've never boiled, but i had one not performing well, so i swooshed it around in a foam cup filled with like 2 inches of cool water for like 10 minutes(i was at work...) i let it dry for like half hour, and it works fine...

I boil mine once a week for good measure. A minute or two is good, I've never ruined an atomizer by boiling. I figure it prevents the crud buildup if I do it before it needs it. I've been on the same M401 atomizer since late December and it works just like it did out of the box.

you can also boil your cartridge material. same thing, once a week on sundays, I rinse out, then boil everything I've used during the week. Don't boil the plastic cart itself though!

You don't remove the material from the carto's they are 1 piece just boil them blow them out and dry over night. I find that boiling them twice each for 15 min then rinse with cold water works best

I never use water on mine. I soak mine in alcohol (70-90%) once a week. Give it about 20 minutes or so soaking then use a syringe with a rubber 'nubbin' on it which fits around my atty. I then fill the syringe with alcohol and force it through the 'nubbin' which cleans the atty out. I then blow out the alcohol and let them sit overnight. Been going for a month now without any issues.

Which ever method you find that works, just make sure you let them dry out a bit then add 2-3 drips of juice and let it soak in for a minute before vaping up.

I boiled my 401 attys and they came out nice and clean. Then I tried one of my Leo attys and it ruined the black chrome finish. I'm not sure how the brass colored ones would react. Mine now has a smokey blue color to it.

I use used this method 90% rubbing alc the other day. I had a bad performing atty from dark juices. I always blow them out but it just wasn't helping. anyway, I let it sit in a ziplock bag for about 8 hours shake the bag every now and then. After a while the alc turned color from all the crud that was stuck in the atty. When I took it out I just blew it out a bit and let it sit for about an hour, let me tell ya it worked like a brand new broken in atty! I primed it with some juice and tasted great. What's nice about the 90% rubbing alc is that it evaporates really quick so you don't have to let it sit and dry all that long. Some say it leaves a taste in it but to be honest I didn't taste even a hint of rubbing alc at all. I guess to each their own...

Not for me...why waste good spirits when a $2 bottle of medical alcohol will do the trick?

What's nice about the 90% rubbing alc is that it evaporates really quick so you don't have to let it sit and dry all that long. Some say it leaves a taste in it but to be honest I didn't taste even a hint of rubbing alc at all. I guess to each their own...

Yea I've not noticed a difference myself either. I usually end up cleaning at least 5 atty's each week due to the flavor changes and multiple PV's I use. Not a bit of flavor other than the intended...

Medical alcohol should not be consumed.

I never suggested the consumption of medical grade alcohol. I along with many prefer to not use the 'good' alcohol and reserve it exclusively for the mixed drinks

I have boiled mine in distilled water. Some of them have had issues with their finish, some not. I have used IPA, but like others, it makes me nervous to use something on the atomizer that is not safe to consume, let alone vape. I don't know enough about IPA I suppose. In 70% what is the other 30%? In 90%, the other 10%? When I have used it, once I removed they atty I've been sure to keep it in a well ventilated area for 24 hours before I used it to make certain it's all dried up.

Yes, I understand that.

My concern is with any residue that maybe left over in the atomizer area that may be vaporized. Of course inhalation is a method of consumption, just not through the digestive tract.

Sure one could use a water rinse afterward, but vodka works well for me and the amounts used are relatively small. Besides, it never hurts to have some spirits around for the reasons you suggest.

I understand Everclear works even better. But Everclear is relatively expensive compared to budget 100 proof Kentucky Vodka.
