I hate to tell you this but the battery charger that comes with the kit you ordered is NOT GOOD. The Nitecore I2 from FT is the better choice. My battery charger, like the one you ordered, melted. I was new and didn't understand that the charger and batteries are more important that the APV, not an inexpensive accessory. So, you're still going to have to get a good charger TO BE SAFE. Also, never leave batteries unattended, or charge them overnight. Do use a charging bag, like the ones at RTD Vapor.

Also, the IDEA of rebuilding a coil is much more daunting, than actually building a coil. Wrapping wire a few times around a wick is truly child's play.....literally, a child could do it. What's more important is battery safety, an Ohm meter, and the right battery and charger. I was so nervous when I build my first coil, that it was done after about 30 seconds, and worked perfectly, and hit the resistance I was aiming for, and I remember thinking that I was sweating "THIS" and spent hours watching videos to wrap a wire four times around a wick. I spent way too much money "getting ready" to build the coil too. I had mechanical arms and third hand rigs, magnifiers, blow torches, digital micrometers, etc., all for a little coil that takes only a few seconds to wrap. It's much easier than we make it seem, and much easier than the videos make it seem. Good luck to you!!

I definitely definitely second on battery safety. You want to definitely make sure that your battery can output whatever you build. I am sure you will learn a lot on this forum just as I have. One of the best batteries I use, and others on the ECF have suggested is the great MNKE 18650 high drain battery. Good Luck, play safe and of course vape on! :vapor:

I just want to emphasize the importance of using high quality IMR batteries and a high quality charger.

I use two AGA-T2 RBA's on two Provari's. I use 6 - 7 wraps of 30g Kanthal wire to make 2.0 ohm coils. Wrapping my own coils was easy. Making the wicks from stainless steel mesh was the tough part to learn for me. I'm presently using the pre-rolled wicks from here Pre-rolled and oxidized stainless 400 mesh wick. These have been working nicely for me, and are cost-effective as they can last weeks.

I check & prep my coils on the Provari's using the built-in ohm meter, and pulse the coils as shown in Zen's video for Provape Z-ATTY-PRO Rebuildable Atomizers For ProVari - Genesis made in USA - YouTube. This is an excellent tutorial appropriate for any Genesis-style RBA.

I'll include some useful information resources on the proper batteries, an online Ohm's Law Calculator, in the links below.

You will more than likely be disappointed in the battery time of the 18350 batteries using an RBA/RDA. You will be more satisfied once you get a quality 18650 IMR battery. I recommend one of the following which will be a good choice. Should you ever decide to do sub-ohm coils once you get a mechanical mod, you will need the IMR batteries which have the higher amp continuous discharge rate (> 10 amp). This is critical so that you don't try to pull too many amps from a sub-ohm coil and cause it to fail in thermal runaway.

thanks man, I am still very much into building my own RBA, I ordered some pre made so I can use them right off the bat, while I slowly master the art lol.

I still do want a mechanical, but I decided that since I am already getting a hybrid mechanical(I forgot that I only mention that in my first thread), that I could settle for a cheaper VV mod for now. The ohms reader + batteries really sold me, it would save me 15 dollars just using it for that purpose. I am getting a 18650 soon, but its nice to have extra batteries.
This should do the trick until the Vicious Ant Valkyrie comes back.

Does the Vamo test resistance below 1.5Ohm. I know some VV/VW devices will only show "low load" at a certain point. I've read that the Vamo can be off by as much as .3ohm, which will be dangerous is your sub-ohming. Your best bet is to spend the $10 on an atomizer resistance meter. It's better than a DMM.

$10.11 Atomizer Resistance Tester (Ohm Meter) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I wouldn't necessarily say that those atomizer meters are better than a DMM. IMHO, a DMM is more versatile, gives you a more solid feeling of safety measures and you can really diagnose any problem. Those ohm meters could crap out, and like many people say is a one trick pony. I would invest in a DMM, they aren't a whole lot $15-30 (not much for your safety) and you can use it for a whole lot of other things than just RBA's.

I have both, and I'm not going to lie, the atomizer meter is used more only because its convenient to use as a placeholder while rebuilding. But if there are any problems, i go straight to the Digital multimeter for some real answers. Just my :2c: :toast:

Answering in line.

Here are my questions.
1- What is a mesh for? I see its right next to the wick and coils.
-
Mesh is a material used for a wick, most often for genesis type atomizers. You roll it up tight, you may or may not want to burn it with a torch to carbonize it.

2- How do I know the voltage coming from a Mechanical Mod? Im going to be using a Nemesis Clone with a 18650 battery.
-
The Voltage output of all mechanical MODs is directly dependent on the battery. 4.2 V output loosely on a freshly charged 18650 and when it gets low you'll notice it's not producing much vape. Take it out and charge it up again. Recommend you get 2-4 18650 batteries, and a quality charger. I'll go into more detail later in my reply.

3- What kind of wick do I need for a RBA? Do they all use the same size?
-
Depends on the tank, RBA or RDA you buy. Most can use a variety of wicking materials; cotton, ekowool, and stainless mesh are common wick materials.

4- Coils I understand, but just to make sure,

As of right now, these are the items that are in my shopping cart. I am trying to keep everything in one order, so im only ordering from fasttech.

Battery- Nemesis Mechanical Mod $29.08 Nemesis Mod / E-Cigarette Battery Compartment - stainless steel / with telescopic pin at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
-
That nemisis mechanical clone is a good one, though a bit fiddly for my tastes. I have one, and another on order because of the price and performance. They don't replace my King, but they are pretty decent for the price.

I am still between a Mechanical and VV. $45.65 Vamo V3 7-in-1 Variable Voltage E-Cigarettes Set with OLED Screen - 2*18350 / chromed brass / US plug charger / EU plug adapter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
-
The VAMO V3 you mention is NOT the best kit to get started with AND the Chrome one's are very prone to lose their finish even when using water to wipe them off with. I suggest the stainless V3 and the kit that has the better batteries and charger.
I recommend this one:

$58.85 Vamo V3 3-in-1 Variable Voltage Mod / E-Cigarette Battery Compartment Kit - stainless steel / Nitecore I2 US battery charger at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Does anyone know anything about the resistance tester on the V3? Because that will save me 10 bucks on getting a separate one.
-
It works fine on my V3

Atomizer- Trident $16.35 Trident Stainless Steel Rebuildable Atomizer at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
-
Haven't tried that one yet.
http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10005100/1400500-igo-l-rebuildable-stainless-steel-dripping
The one above this line is very easy to rebuild, but is NOT very good for dual coils.

Wicks and Coil- Would these be fine if I didnt want to build my own? $2.79 Replacement Wicks and Wires for Rebuildable Atomizer (10-Pack) 10-pack - 1.8ohm / multi wicks at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
-
........ swears by those, I haven't tried them yet.

If I do want to build my own, what kind of wick would I want? Does the size depend on the atomizer?
-
Wick doesn't come in much variance of sizes, mostly materials. 2mm and 3mm Wick are the common sizes. I use ekowool or cotton for tanks and RDAs. I use mesh in my genesis types. I don't see a huge difference between them, your mileage may vary.

Please, any suggestions in the next 30min- 1hour is appreciated.
-
Sorry I missed your intended time line.

Would you go with the Nemesis mechanical or with a VV V3?[/QUOTE]
-
BOTH, I have one of each, they are different tools for different jobs. Mechanicals for subohm and huge clouds, but pay attention to your mod and make sure you turn it off or lock it before you set it down or put it in your pocket or the cup holder.
Vamo for your day to day and driving times

DON'T DRIP and DRIVE

I have and use 9 MODs now. Omega for dripping, nemesis clone for dripping too, King for dripping at home ONLY, Vamo V3 and Two Provarii. One Provari stays home and never gets out, the other gets dragged everywhere and abused thoroughly. Two ego C-Twists and a Lava Tube 1.5 as loaners for the smokers to try vaping on.
