Here is my 2 cents... Use one as a VV car adapter for a USB PT.
Here is my design I actually planned on making. I would actually make a thumb wheel you could use to adjust the voltage on the fly rather than have to use a scew driver to adjust it.
I have three of these and about 10 LED indicators, that is what I am building with one.
Hope this helps...

That looks great! What is the usb input on the top? Is that usb port connected to a batty connector, and not putting a batty connector on the box?

1 more thing, swapping the pot. to a thumbwheel is that 200ohm?

The USB input on top is for a USB passthrough (PT), I envision it being mounted to the dash to the right of the steering wheel with velcro. I plug into the cigarette lighter and dial in the voltage, and plug my PT into the top and I have unlimited vapability for road trips.
The female USB is connected to the Voltage out off the LED indicator. So I plug the PT iinto the top.
No swapping the POT, just add an extension onto the screw through the case and make a dial/thumbwheel so you do not have to try and adjust the voltage with a screw driver.

Well got one done, here are some pics...
Interesting thing was under load I only lost .1 volt, so it went from 4.5 to 4.4 volts.
