I got my e-cig a little bit before christmas and loved it. I was beginning to get my taste buds back. I was feeling great. Then for strange reason after a month... I just picked up smoking again. Have been smoking analog for almost 4 months now.

I've thought long and hard about thus and I know I need to quit for myself. It packs way more of punch though when 5 year old who thinks the sun rises and sets with you tells you he don't want you tto smoke, cause he "don't want our legs to get cut off" he told my wife that. I'm his paw paw by marriage and he's been watching thise smoke free commercials.

The other morning I woke up and felt like I had an elephant sitting on my chest. So the time has come. I got to quit smoking.

The problems I ran into was the 80/20 pg/vg mix I was using hurt my throat and the dry hits sucked. So I'm gonna experiment with the ratios and see what works for me. I would like to find a more traditional tobacco flavored juice. Again comes dow experimenting.

I want to find a good clearomizer that performs good.

One of the things that fascinated me once I got here was an e-pipe. I bought me an analog pipe while I have been smoking and I want to convert that to an e-pipe.

I'm also considering starting an e pipe forum to keep myself accountable and become a bigger part of vaping community.

Thanks for listening to my pity party and any advice or input you give.

What kabonk said - "good luck on your vaping journey"!
I've never used an e-pipe, but as far as dry hits go, I like the Kanger T3. Its wicks are on the bottom, and I haven't had a dry hit from it yet, and I've been using the same one for a month or so (although admittedly, I only use it at work). I've had it gurgle a few times, but that stopped about a week into using it, so now the only problem I have with it is that when you fill it, a drop or so of juice will come out of the tip, even though I was very careful not to get any juice in the center post. With my last refill, I stuck a q-tip in the end, and that worked, so I'm all smiles now. :)
Hope this helps!

Welcome and good luck quitting smoking! I think you are on the right path looking here for help. Vaping was the only thing that helped me quit, I hope it does the same for you.

Kanger ProTank ... nice puppy!

I don't know anything about e-pipes but I'm certain there are plenty of folks on these forums that do; in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there's already a sub-forum or something of the like for them already. Do a search, I bet you'll find some information that will help you.

I think it is great that you are ready to give vaping another shot. The hardest thing for most folks is finding that perfect spot. It is attainable but can take a lot of trial and error.

What did you start out with in way of equipment?

There is a LOT of wisdom all grouped together there so what ever problems you are having someone there has probably had them too and can help you figure out how to make it better.

Hi Phantom.

I don't know if this will help you, but it certainly helped me: Don't think of this as "quitting smoking" think of it as "vaping instead of smoking". I smoked a pipe for 20 years. That is a route to take if you actually enjoy smoking--like I did. I'm one of those people who has no intention of getting completely off nicotine, I find that through vaping I get the benefits of the nicotine without the costs to my health that smoking has. Also, the key here to remember is it isn't what you smoke that matters, it is what you don't smoke.

As for sore throat, that is a common problem with new vapers and seems to be related to smoking cessation. I'm not saying that the PG might not be a throat irritant to you--lord knows that I found distilled water to be a throat irritant when vaped, yeah I know how weird that sounds (but I found a PG supplier and have been holding steady at 18mg). However with a bottom coil clearomizer like a Kanger T3 I've found that you can use just about any ratio. Myself I prefer a 60/40 ratio. Whereas with Stardust types of clearomizers it seems that anything less than 70% PG they have issues.

Rather the key I've found is that when you're in the phase where you desire a smoke, use of a strong juice is advisable. I was on 24mg for a long time and just recently bumped myself down to 18. I still keep a small supply of my favorite tobacco juice in 24 just in case I need it.

As for converting an analog pipe to an e-pipe, I have no clue. I'm not exactly handy. However there are several pipe mods out there which are on the pricey side for me--but I'd probably buy in a second if my budget weren't an issue. What I can say about cartomizers is I don't care for the Stardust style at all. Once I got into variable voltage and wattage vaping I had nothing but issues with them. That said I will say that I've got nothing but good things to say about the Kanger T3 and that bottom coil clearomizers seem to work better because you are not fighting gravity. I've not tried other bottom coil clearomizers though. I find at home I like dripping (probably because I was a pipe smoker and pipes are fussy).

Keep trying! I started dabbling with KR808s in 2007, and kept switching back and forth because they just weren't doing it for me. The last time I quit, I decided to move up from smaller cig-alikes to a Kanger S2, which is a small, square tank system... now that was a bit more like it, and it got me used to the idea that I didn't have to use something that looks like a cigarette. Just about a month ago, I got an Innokin iTaste MVP... this will never be mistaken for a cigarette, and with a tank on it I can go all day without recharging or refilling. Keep at it, and experiment with stuff if your budget allows. I'm now approaching 8 months without cigarettes, and I refuse to go back again.

Might I recommend this juice vendor?

Mountain Oak Vapors - The Best USA E-Liquid and E-Juice

I get a couple of my tobacco flavors from here to take a break from sweet flavors. They are a little more expensive but very good. I have heard good things about Southern Gentleman and my favorite is Applewood.

I fell off thew wagon when I kept having device failures (1x self inflicted, 1x dodgy battery). When I hada smoke I had been vaping long enough to taste how much I no longer enjoyed the analogs. Now I have a couple of devices and tank options that I feel I won't go the analog path again. almost two full weeks without a stinky now. Keep your head up phantom, every analog you don't have will count.
