And I realized that I really enjoy my Provari much more, with a clearomizer, than my Nemesis and Trident rda clones. I tried a dragon coil and a diamond coil, both of which kicked my ..., but I finally got it down. I even tried out building an RSST genesis, and it didn't have near the flavor that I get from the iClear 30B.

Now that I got that out of my system, I can get back to simply enjoying the Provari vape! I now understand why people stick with our device. The last bit of testing I will try is the IBTanked that's on the way. I have never vaped a cartomizer, so I am interested to see how it performs.

Well... before you say that RDA/RBA stink... you might want to try a slightly more expensive version (like a good clone) ... I have a bunch of different types, and the cheaper ones definitely vape differently from the more expensive ones (or clones that are laid out exactly the same as expensive ones). RDA are really small, and so tougher to build, and they are drippers, not tanks, so they're a bit different there too.

Nevertheless, cartos are darn close, and you don't have to work at using them. I wanted to do RBA/RDA because I am making some sticky gummy VG blends with various ingredients, and throwing away $2.50 heads and $2 cartos every 3 hours was getting to be more expensive than smoking cigs. If you get to the point where you want to do a bunch of experimenting making your own juice, using various materials (ie., extracts, stevia, essential oils) or 100% VG, you may want to revisit those RDA in glass or top quality stainless (not the plated tanks you buy from Fasttech).

I don't know if this is right, but what really put me off was the immense throat hit. Now, this was using Mister-E Liquid Grey Matter. Not sure if it would be different with another one of my juices.
I was expecting a much better flavor, but I don't know if it was simply because I was trying out micro coils?
I am sure I will go back to it again, but for right now, I have my heart set on a kayfun or russian for my next purchase. I think I will have to go with a clone as I can't find real ones in stock anywhere, with the exception of a single UK site that crushes my sole when I convert to US dollars. That said, I really love vape mail, and fasttech's shipping times scare me, haha.

My wife keeps bugging me to start learning about making my own juice. I think I am going to need a few weeks of researching the ins and outs before I give it a whirl. I am so happy with my current crop of juice that I am almost tempted to stick with what I have... but I know my feeble attempt at DIY juice is on the horizon.

ChiefAllDay your not alone with your experiments, I didn't do any rebuilding when my Kayfun light clone showed up yesterday.
I just cleaned it and then filled it with my favorite juice, I used the stock build that it came with.

3 hits on that thing and I was ready for lift off, I was totally over nic'd, lucky for me I had just come from my juice vendor and they had trown in some freebies of a half strength of what I normally use, so I tried that and it works great, I just have to go back today and pick up some of my normal stuff with less nick or buy no nic and dilute everything down.

If the throat hit is to much for the juice you're using, dial down the volts or lower the nic. I was in Chattanooga yesterday and forgot to take a bottle with me and of course I killed the three tanks I had with me (they were only half full since I forgot to fill those up before I left also), so I stopped in at Mountain Oaks and bought a bottle of Gambler. I've used MOV before, but had forgot that their juice jumps from 9mg to 18mg (I'm currently down to 12mg). Not really thinking about it, I got the 18mg.

Well after we get back from dinner I filled up the Russian 91 and about coughed up a lung after that first big pull. The Russian is set up with a 5/64 28ga 1.2ohm micro w/cotton and I had my Provari set at 4.1 volts. I quickly dialed that back down to 3.6 and that took care of the harsh throat hit.

If you're wanting to try a Kayfun and don't want to spend the $$$ on the original (being a green suiter I know you aren't rolling in the dough) then try an EHPRO Kayfun clone. I've heard some pretty decent things about the quality over the ones you can get from FT. As for the micro coils, once you get one set up and it's firing nicely, you won't have to change out that coil unless it breaks as long as you keep it clean between wick changes. The coil I've got in my 3.1 has been in there for over a month now and it's still going strong. I just change out the cotton every other tank and dry burn the residue off before I put the new wick in and to me at least, nothing beats a micro with a fresh cotton wick for flavor.

How is life at Campbell these days? I spent 10 1/2 years at Campbell and retired from there in 04.

it also has to be remembered that all these custom coil designs are in fact designed with increasing TH along with vapor production, which is one reason i dont seem to get into them. using an old fashion coil i get plumes of vapor with very little TH. when i tried out micro's my first reaction was "who the heck wants to vape that?" might as well inhale glass powder lol

as for the genesis, it takes a bit of tinkering to get the hit the way you want them, anyone can build them, but it takes a while to master them and make them vape the exact way you want. and as Glass noted they really do vary among designs as to how they vape.

You don't even have to do that... just get a gallon of 50/50 (or 100% VG or 100% PG, whatever you like vaping... 100% is cheapest, it's sold for bath and body products, so you do NOT have to go to a vape shop to buy them, just make sure you get USDA grade).

Use the juices you love and already bought. Just add 50% volume (or 25%, do it a dropper at a time, test in your RDA, add more or less) of the dilutant PG or VG. You'll save money on juice, and get the vape you like.

Down the road, you will still use the PG/VG when you blend with your unflavored nics, just buy them in higher concentrations (24mg, 36mg, 50mg - I do not recommend 100mg to anyone, because it's hazardous to handle without gloves). Both PG and VG will store for years if not decades (not true for nics or juices or flavors). I'm still going through a gallon of VG I bought 12 years ago (VG is used to make body lotions, creams, scrubs as a humectant). It is completely unchanged.

100mg nic is extremely toxic, but if the area that you're using to mix is well ventilated and you wear the appropriate protective gear (minimum gloves and safety glasses), then there is nothing wrong with using 100mg. I've been using it for about 3 months now and as long as the proper precautions are taken, it's fine. I will say that for a first time DIY'er make sure that if you do choose to use 100mg nic, that you get a test kit and test your batches to ensure that you are at the appropriate nic level. The margin for error at 100mg is a lot less than it is using 24 or 36mg.

Also be wise in where you order your nic. It's not all the same, so make sure you use a good vendor. I've used both Wizard labs and Nude Nicotine and have not been disappointed in the quality of the nic that I've gotten from either vendor. Also, I would suggest that you order your nic in a VG base as it tends to have a longer shelf life (important if you're storing for the future) than PG base does.

OMG that is exactly how I felt! I thought it might be the juice I am using, but the very same stuff tastes and inhales so much better in my clearomizers... odd.

I might back off of on making the fancy micro coils and go for something a bit more mundane. I don't have any interest in clouds, I just want to enhance the flavor.

How large are the batches you guys are making? From what I gather, the nic and flavoring has a shorter shelf life than the PG VG, so should I only make what I can use in, say, a month?
Thanks again, you guys rock!

I do both 15 & 30ml bottles. I usually mix enough to last about a month since I'm mixing for two and it can be a little time consuming. We both like a couple of the same flavors, but there are some that I like that she doesn't and vise versa, so I end up making about 10 to 12 flavors each time. I've never really timed it, but I would guess it takes me about two hours to mix enough juice to last us that long.

Holy hell!! You just pour each ingredient into separate 50ml beaker?
yea i went on amazon and got a decent set of graduated cylinders, buy my pg/vg by the gallon from essential depot and have big bottles of nic from wizard and flavors from TPA.

measure one out pour it in the bottle, measure the next one and so on. finish up give it a good shake and throw it in the back of the cabinet. usually fill a new one when i get to the 100 ml left of the old one range

old pic im down to about 10-12mg now
