So i started building and screaming at the rba...help!

All the prep talk pushed me into looking at building coils. Nervous as i was i tried 2 today. It did not go well! Though i did not blow up and that was cool
First try using 1.4 prewrapped kanthal coil i started with the Smoktech mini rda. That build was a pita BUT got it in. Checked ohms and soaked the cotton,scared to put it to my mouth, i sucked in what tasted like just cotton,lol. Played with that a little longer with that thing and sometimes i get flavor with little vapor and sometimes cotton. So 1 question on that one is of course the cotton taste,is there too much cotton maybe? 2nd question,stupid question im sure,when you want to juice it again,do you take off the whole top piece or remove drip tip? I had a mess!
Fed up i moved onto The subtank mini rba,same wire and cotton. The wire placement was lovely (well close enough) It went to much easier but then cotton! All i taste is cotton,lol. Why the cotton taste? I dont even wanna do it but i know i need to learn whyyyy cotton why? I will try again in the morning but any ideas on the next try would be much appreciated!

Cotton, some taste the cotton until the wick breaks in. The main thing is Do Not let your cotton Dry out. If it does, you will get a BURNT taste that is absolutely horrible and you will have to switch out your wick.

Not sure what the devices you are using and I'm sure someone will come along to help you out with that.

Don't worry, you'll get there.

First, the cotton, you're probably using too much. You want just enough to fill the coil completely, slight tension as you pull it through the coil, but not enough resistance to move the coil. Just takes practice.

Second the, the smoktech mini rda is not a great rda. As you figured out, there is no juice well, so if you remove the cap the juice just goes everywhere. Second, it has a really tiny air hole, and even if you like MTL vaping it's probably too small. If you're going to use that one still, just remove the drip tip, or drip through it. You'll also want to be careful and make sure the coil is right in front of the air hole.

I had a burnt hit once when i first started vaping and learned that lesson real fast,lol horrible experience!!

Ya, i was thinking "where does the juice sit" lol. It was cheap enough to try on and decided i could use it for tasting diy juice. I will fiddle with them more,my head hurts lol . SO tiny this stuff is! Will try with less cotton next time. thanks!

Yeah, it's actually okay for just juice testing. If you're going to use it for that, I suggest taking the cap off to juice the coil up directly, just saturate all of the cotton, then put the cap back on and vape. Don't "drip."

ETA: again, very important, make sure you line the air hole up with the coil.

You should post a pic of your build - the coil and wicking.
And yeah, that Smoktech mini thing - that's probably going to be a few drips in the top, a puff or two, then another couple drips. Drip, vape, repeat.

It took me about 1.5 months to build a good coil on a much larger deck. I could build stuff that was "functional" but it takes time.

I solved the cotton problem with rayon and never looked back.

So,still waiting for tappatalk to load,mine doesnt work well so im at the lap top again. stuck connecting to server?? I have readers too and thats what im using but its still tuff,thoses google thingies look perfect! I think im going to try to just rewick them and see how that goes with little less cotton. That cotton aint easy either,lol. I never thought i had big fingers till today!

The google thingies are less than ten bucks at Harbor Freight.
