For safety, I always re-check the ohms after re-wicking just to make sure I didn't pull the coil loose or anything.

And for safety always re-check the ohms after you've got the atomizer completely reassembled. Sometimes, especially in very small rebuildables, a small piece of wire might not have been clipped closely enough and can touch the outside of the tank causing it to short.
And I'm happy you're trying it also!! I remember when I first started rebuilding and it's frustrating to get it all to come together at first. Watch videos for your particular atomizer and practice, practice, practice. It will come together for you. And the first time it comes together beautifully for you, you'll be dancing around like the first man that built fire.
