So I think I found a local source for PG and VG finally

A local tobacco store has PG for humidors, would it be okay to vape? Don't want to get hubby the wrong stuff. Does PG also have a USP rating for it? Or is pure PG enough? They had 8 oz for about $7 and CVS has 6 oz of Glycerin for $5. Now to get some flavoring to put in it with some nic juice and we'll be set for awhile. Just thought I would ask you guys about the PG situation, since I looked and went through 8 pages of results and couldn't find what I was looking for, so if this was talked about somewhere I apologize. I really don't want to resort to getting a GALLON of PG from the tractor supple co which would be a lot longer of a drive then the smoke shop in town. What do you guys think? Is the PG they use for humidors the same thing? :)

Great, so it does have a USP rating. That was what I needed to know, I haven't been to the shop yet to see but if it doesn't have that on it I won't buy it. Thanks Hoosier, and thank you too foggy1, for the info.

I did see where it said PG has to be USP too, so all is well if this supplier turns out to have it, otherwise its' gonna be the gallon route at Tractor Supply Co.

Will they give you trouble over ordering it? What do I say I need it for?

EDIT: I think it will be USP because I found here:

http://www.humidor-guide.com/humidifier-liqud-propylene-glycol-2-3.php3

at the bottom of paragraph one in green it said:

The purity of the propylene glycol should satisfy drug and food safety standards.

So that tells me it SHOULD have the USP rating, if it does I'll report back, won't be getting it til next week though, but I just thought I'd ask about it here since this could be another source of finding PG locally for some people. :)

Should is not an absolute. And PG is also made in food grade, which is fine to the FDA for food.

We are inhaling so I always go with pharma grade, or USP. Pharmacies that compound use USP PG. Just call it by its name (not as PG). If they are curious you can tell them it is for a humidor or you're making your own lotion or that you are making your own fog juice.

It's not a controlled substance, so it is really none of their business what you do with it.

Edit: PG by its own nature will combat mold and bacteria growth. Seems that adding anything to it for use in humidors is redunant, but if you can get a premium from some, I guess it's good for the bottom line.

Cool, I will have to call the compounding pharmacy, it sounds like that will be our best local supplier of PG, thanks Hoosier! And thank you KILLERkpd for that info, I bet it will be Food grade, so I won't bother, that's not what hubby needs, so I am glad I mentioned the link because it does talk about food grade. Thanks again! :D

I know someone who owns a few compounding pharmacys. I've known this guy for years.

When I asked him, he cocked an eye and wanted to know why I wanted it. I told him the truth. He said, "That's OK. I was worried you'd found a way to make it explosive."

We train scouts in firearms safety and shooting skills at least everyother week, so there is already a pretty high level of trust between us.

I think the business makes them paranoid.

(I ended up getting mine from a farm store for the better price. Since I'm on my second gallon already, so it wasn't wasted.)

Well I don't think my hubby being the light vaper that he is will go through an entire gallon even in a year's time. How long was it before you needed another gallon? I plan on mixing juice for my mom and her hubby and my hubby, so maybe the gallon route wouldn't be that bad. I mean 25 bucks ain't too bad. It just depends on if Mom and her hubby who is sensitive to everything, can tolerate PG liquid, I would mix about 15-20% vg into the juice though, to up vapor production for them and to see if I can find that sweet spot of juice that will satisfy their analog cravings. The two of them are heavy smokers, hubby is not. And he's been vaping for over a week now and things are going well I think. :)

That sounds cool, a vibrating bowl? That's pretty awesome sounding, is it a jewelry cleaning bowl or something? I would only be mixing for the three of them, and with two of them probably hitting the PV hard enough to go through about 4-5 ml's a day between them maybe it would be worth it to ask them to chip in on the PG. Once we know that they LIKE it it could be wickedly economical. I think I have it easy with these three, they all only want tobacco flavoring at this point, but I will try them out on like apple at some point or mint. Mom used to smoke menthol but now she and her hubby hit mini cigars, both of them inhaling them. YUCK! :) Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me Hoosier. :)

Depends... 3ml bottles I use to try new flavors/mixes, so I don't end up with a ton of something I'll never vape again... 6mls I've mainly used to 'fix' the 3ml mixes that don't turn out right or for flavors I know won't be everyday vapes... 15ml bottles I use/refill and carry my main go to liquids in.... I need more bottles and am debating whether it's worth it to buy 50-100 of any one size at once... I know all the ones I did have went faster then I expected...
