Not sure where exactly to post this, so will try here first...

So I need to do a research paper to get my BS degree, and decided 'lets see if there is enough information out there to do it on vaping.' lo and behold there is, unfortunately though the requirements of the paper need a thesis with at least 3 arguments to be defended.

Research suggests that electronic cigarettes are a viable alternative to traditional tobacco smoking because they reduce cancer causing substance exposure to both the user and bystanders, they show success in getting people to quit nicotine completely, and Z.

I'm having some trouble coming up with a Z, any ideas?

For your second: They don't show success in getting people to quit nicotine completely, people just sub vaping for smoking. I don't plan on stopping vaping any time soon? However, I have stopped smoking cigarettes completely so I stopped tobacco. You may want to substitute smoking cigarettes for the word nicotine.

Ok here's a fact from someone that has Severe COPD. I've been transported to the ER by an ambulance more times than I can count from haveing a COPD exacerbation. These can range from mild (just treat with a rescue inhaler), moderate (I've lost a lot of time from work when these occur, and also ran a brand new car with less than 4,000 miles on it into a brick post. A coughing spell that makes it where you are so dizzy you can't stand up and feels like a heart attack.) Then we get to the severe exacerbation. That's where you go to the hospital and they start pumping meds in you. The last attack I had the Fire Department and Ambulance Parimedics found me laying on the kitchen floor gasping for air. I was unable to talk, because I couldn't breath.
My Lung Doctor (sorry can't spell the medical term, but I hope you know what I mean) told me that within 5 years I would have to carry an O2 bottle with me. I was taking 3 breathing treatments per day plus never could leave the house without my rescue inhaler. My last check-up was on 09/19.12. Exactly 2 weeks after I started vaping. No I haven't quit analogs completly but the amount I do smoke now is so much more reduced than it was. I was a 2-3 pack a day smoker. Some days I don't smoke any and other days I'll smoke a few like maybe 3-5. My last visit the doctor said that my lungs have never sounded so clear, my B/P was almost normal. I haven't had to use a breathing treatment in over 5 days and the last time was due to air quality. I feel 100% better and also. Even the doctor said that most of the ingredents were used in the medical field. I won't argue that I shouldn't put anything but air in my lungs but I just know that since I started vaping I'm doing a lot better than before. Sorry I took up so much space but if someone hasn't been there it is hard for them to understand the difference.

Im also writing a paper, the first is simply an info paper and is done, my second is a proposal still working on it. You might consider the nicotine is bad for you argument as well as the other ingredients, pg, vg flavorings. I stepped away from the standard this is an ecig (blu cig type) to more of this is an ecig its an ok intro to PV but heres a much better intro and will most likely help to quit tobacco cigs (ego type or ego twist type.). You may also go for harm reduction therapy vs nicotine replacement therapy argument since we all know how well those work but the govt apparently doesnt.

You could split your first reason into two reasons.

Hm, I'm trying to think of another reason that is actually documented. You could say they stink less, but I don't think there's any actual research to discuss, lol.

You could try something like "preliminary evidence suggests that they are healthier". I know you kind of skirted around that in your first statement by saying less exposure to carcinigens, etc... but there is the upcoming Greek cardiologist's paper where he does pretty convincingly show that vaping has hardly any detectable effect on the heart as determined by some pretty sophisticated tests. Farsalinas, I believe, is his name.

As someone mentioned, there's the economic arguments. You could also argue that vapers are not supporting the tobacco industry any longer.

i would refine what you have as others have already suggested. for an additional point i would dig up papers discussing the costs of smoking related illnesses. i know you don't live in canada, but there are many resources discussing the social cost of smoking, and there are timelines available online that chart when provinces became able to sue the tobacco companies for medical costs.
google scholar is a friend in order to find ways to take advantage of your university subscriptions. in this case i do believe it would be necessary to dip into media a bit for some resources, but why not? it's relevant to your paper and your topic is socially relevant.
ps. i hate to be nosy, but do you literally only have to do a couple research papers to get your bsc? i have a ba and my education was quickly pretty much comprised of lectures and research papers.

E-Cigs help with the psychological addiction. Everyone who smokes cigarettes has triggers, such as: when they first get up in the morning, having a cup of coffee, when they get into the car, sit down at their computer, pick up the phone, etc. Even without nicotine, the act of inhaling and seeing the vapor can curb some of the craving. For example, I just finished reading 3 different novels and the characters smoked in all of them (trashy crime stories - what detective or murderer doesn't light up at some point ;)) I don't think I would have noticed it in the past, but I would have wanted a cigarette; it's subliminal. I would see someone smoking in a movie and grab for a cigarette without even realizing it.

Another thing I forgot to mention, in terms of health. The doc also said that the amount of nicotine absorbed through vaping has about the same effect as the cafene in a soda pop, tea, or coffee.

I actually tried to find a published reference to this for my paper and couldn't find any that agreed, right now this seems to be untested unless my searching skills suck that much, which is very possible.

tackle the fact that despite the initial results are supportive of vaping, and a growing support within the medical community of utilizing vaping as an aid to decrease cigarette issues, that Pfizer and other companies are throwing a significant amount
of funding to organizations and politicians in order to ban and deter vaping.....they will lose too much money on decreased use of Chantex and other meds they profit from.

I'ts still very new to the medical field. The more they become aware of it and the benifits the better off we will be. I hope. I'm not a Doctor just a responder. I just can testify what the difference is for myself. Others may and will differ. That's the way the world goes round. When in truth reallity does draw air.................
