Hi all, I was surfing the net and came across your forum. I read all the posts I could over the last few days, and I really like the idea of these e-cigarettes. I do have some questions I hope you can answer, as I don't think I'm the "average" customer for this product.

I do smoke analogs on a intermittent basis. Sometimes 1 a day, sometimes 2, sometimes none for months. It all depends on stress levels, boredom, etc. I've been this way for give or take 2 years. Never had a problem.

What I really enjoy is Hookah. I enjoy the thick, luxurious smoke, as well as the lack of combustion products and of course the flavor from a well-packed, well-heated bowl.

I'd really like to smoke hookah more often. Problem is, as some of you will know, it's a royal pain in the ... to set up. And, if you're by yourself, smoking the whole bowl doesn't usually happen. I'm usually about nicotine'd out (is that a word?) after an hour or so, and bowls tend to last 2 people about an hour and a half (at least mine does). If I do try to smoke the whole bowl myself (especially if it's unwashed tobacco - .5% nic by weight vs .05% BW), I usually end up pretty green.

I heard some of you saying that an e-cig is a lot like hookah, which intrigues me, while some of you are saying you get a "throat hit" from an e-cig.

I don't want a "throat hit". If you've ever smoked a good hookah, you know you can't feel the smoke. It's usually glycerine and molasses making up shisha, and while the water in the pipe does cool and filter the smoke, I'm wondering if an e-cig could give out the type of experience I'm looking for. From what I'm reading it seems like Johnson's Creek VG juice would be the way to go, but what about this throat hit I keep hearing about? Is it a byproduct of the higher nicotine blends? I certainly would stick to the low strength/0nic stuff, depending on my mood.

Thanks in advance for any insight you may have.

I'm glad you all are honest about this, and I appreciate your input. Guess I'll just stick with my 1 pack/3months habit and break out my hookah at parties! (or when it's really nice outside...) certainly saves money. I could care less if cigs are 10$ a pack.

I really don't see how someone could smoke a pack a day... I'd probably puke out my spleen and die. Guess its all subjective though. :/

Hi Combustable, welcome to the forum.

Vaping might not be for you, it's really best aimed at tobacco smokers but if you do want to try it for occasional recreational use then maybe it could help you avoid the nicotine and nasties from the few cigs you smoke.

When people talk about throat hit it's not always the same thing. Some people mean a harshness in the throat, some mean the volume of vapour - feeling that there is something substantial there and another meaning is the effect nicotine has on the muscles of your throat that makes them spasm.

Vaping propylene glycol without nicotine and with or without flavourings wouldn't give much throat hit. Lots of people have tried to find a zero nicotine commercial eliquid that has throat hit. So it is possible, not necessarily cost effective, or from the vaping community point of view advisable, but perhaps better than occasional tobacco use.

If you do want to try it then have a look at DSE901s or M401s/Pilots/Evos. Those are decent devices available at good prices.
