i already have a pair of TF 16340s but the website says IMR 16340s only. will my TF's really not work?

I have a rev3 coming in (hopefully) today. I ordered IMRs, have no idea if others will work. My guess is they will but the IMRs are recommended due to safety concerns. But that is just a guess.

It's been tried with protected, they'll fit and work. This issue is current draw which is why IMR is recommended. With the test I read (linked below) the protection circuit kicked in with dual core. If you're going to be using standard or higher resistance single core with it you should probably be ok. If you're going to be using low resistance or definitely dual core you will probably run into current draw issues and the batteries protection will kick in.
