I like to wrap mine around a strand of 32g Kanthal.. after all what else am I gonna do with the ~80' I have left on the roll  :p

OMG Statistic, now I have an idea of how small small is! I've got some thirty two, so if thirty two is smaller than thirty, that's pretty damn small.

Haha Navy, I was kidding :p

I did wrap around a paperclip once though, when I was trying to achieve wickless vaping

Commie and I tried wickless vaping (nearly simultaneously) and found that it was NASTY :)

Yeah I was peripherally aware of your efforts. I think you guys were doing that right about the time I was trying to grow out of my vape diapers.

The coil in that pic actually made some legit tasty vapor, but it's a pita to vape, having to hold it just so the coil is touching the juice but not submerged.

I still think wickless vaping is achievable, I'm hard headed, lol.

I go based off what X calls them micro size, 1/16"ish OD (outer diameter). So if you're wraping say 28 awg or thicker around a 1/16" drill bit than that's too big already. I sometimes use a 18 ga needle or music wire. But I also use 16 ga needles too. Size is similar to when I wrap coils using 1mm Ekowool. These coils come in around .08" OD, they work great too as long as they're tightly wound. But they're not true micros, they're what I call minis. :)
