There are so many models to select from, it all depends on what you are looking for. Do you want something that resembles a traditional cigarette? You might have to take a battery or two with you if you do. Their are larger capacity models too. Let us know what you are looking for, and then it will be easier to steer you towards something that will make you happy, and welcome to the forum. :)

Hello and welcome to the forum. I agree with the poster above that a bit more information would be helpful.

At your level of smoking, you have quite a few options that will probably work for you. If you want to retain the size and shape of a cigarette, then I would suggest the Volt by Smokeless Image

You will most likely need at least 2 if not 3 batteries if you go that route. They perform well, but the smaller the battery you have, the less time you have in between charges.

If you are looking for something to last a bit longer, you can go with a KGO/EGO/RIVA model (several vendors carry them) which is about the size of a cigar, but will last quite a bit longer and has a lot of upgrade options available.

As for flavor, there isn't any liquid that I'm aware of that duplicates the flavor of a cigarette as nothing is burnt. Most new vapers will gravitate towards a tobacco or menthol flavor, but most find in time that they enjoy a variety of flavors.

Good luck and keep us informed. We're here to help.

Many start on something like the Joye510 or volt and quickly move on to something a bit more robust. I've already ordered a new Lavatube starter kit and I keep coming back to the provari sales pages with more than a little desire. I've only been total vape since Monday. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably order an Ego/Kgo and then the Provari, but I am still waiting on the LT kit to arrive....

As far as flavors go, you won't find anything that tastes like an actual burning cigarette, and after you taste what is available you wouldn't want to. The closest that I've come are vapors that taste like pipe tobacco, or like the smell of a pack when you first open it. My advice would be to order 10mL bottles of just about everything from one of the suppliers that you see people going crazy about such as BWB. If you don't like them, you can trade them on the forums here, and if you do like them you can always go back and order 30mL of them or more. I've discovered that I like variety... Good Luck!

Knowing what I know now, just go for an Ego over 510 if you want all day battery. I have 1100Mah and go for almost 2 days on each battery. Its only twice the cost of a 510 but your not charging as you go. I still like my 510 cause its easy to conceal, and looks more like a regular smoke, and is good for quick trips out and about.
For juice I agree, try lots and you will find many you will like, then order more of those, and you can always get some menthol and conceal the ones you don't like as much.

I would be careful of ordering from Backwoods Brew as a newbie, because their juices often need to steep for awhile.

My recommendations for a new person hoping to get close to the cigarette taste are...
--Dekang DK-TAB
--Tuscany Tobacco from Vaperite

The good thing about ordering from Vaperite is you can get tobacco samplers.
That way you can get a few different types of tobacco flavors to try
And personally, I think all of them are really good.

Well you're never going to find a liquid that truly tastes like a cig, because combustion adds a very unique flavor. In my experience, even the tobacco flavors made from tobacco leaf reductions don't even taste like cigs. Now, I generally rather enjoy the tobacco flavors, but they certainly don't taste like cigs. My advice? Branch out, get some sample sizes and see what you might like. Don't limit yourself to tobacco flavors.

As for what kind of battery to get. You can get one that lasts all day, but you'll be looking into large battery mods. They won't look anything like a cigarette and they're a bit expensive. If you want an ecig that looks more like a traditional cig with a traditional size, the most you might get out of your battery is 30 to 40 minutes for the larger batteries, 20 to 30 with the smaller. This problem can be easily circumvented with a smart charging pack. Some brands will include them in the starter kit.

The brand I use is Volcano. The Magma kit. It's a battery that is only slightly larger than a cigarette. Now that's certainly not the only decent brand out there, maybe not even the best. I'm sure other users will chime in with their brand of choice. I suggest you go for manual, push button batteries over automatic. They tend to last longer and you can drip with them.

There are actually not that many GOOD choices. There are lots of bs "names" slapped on a lot of things but this is what is well supported.

I only recommend manual batteries (harder to damage/kill with juice leaks, easier to get a good hit every time, you can use a drip tip to drip on an atomizer to test flavors)

The models I recommend have both atomizers and cartomizers available.

100 mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping with a standard resistance atomizer or cartomizers.

Joye 510 - 180mah, lower voltage - a bit weak but small. Sold as a 3-piece with atomizer and cartridge, most prefer to use with blank cartomizers. Not many prefilled cartos for 510.

KR808D-1 - 3.7v/3.6v - my favorite is V4L.com single logo manuals (for their long 10 second cutoff as stated on some of their batteries like the single logo manuals) in standard aka 78mm battery size. Other popular ones are the rubberized models (SmokelessImage, Bloogplanet, Halocigs G6), and the standard manufacturer gold button KR808D-1 manuals. The standard/78mm battery size makes 120mm ecig, 280mah (V4L, manufacturer) or 320mah (the rubberized models). Sold as a 2-piece, this model has plenty of prefilled cartomizers and a decent selection of blank cartos. A DSE901 standard resistance atomizer can be used on these to test new juices.

NOTE - no matter what a vendor claims, a standard size cartomizer does NOT last as long as a pack of cigs. More like 1/2 pack and even then, if you run it that dry you could singe the carto and ruin its flavor. We keep things damp with eliquid. Most can get 7-10 days use out of a cartomizer that way, using thin clear liquids.

-----------

Then for all day batteries you go to the fat battery models like Joye Ego (3.4v), Riva 510 (at Liberty-Flights.com these are 3.7v), Kgo (many like the 1000mah ones). These are usually 510-threaded (the most popular threading) and run from 650mah to 1100mah. Note - if you stick low resistance cartomizers/attys on these, you use the power up faster. So if you vape a lot or use LR then one of these big batteries will not last all day at work.

----

Then there are mods of all shapes 650mah+ which use standard industrial batteries inside, from $20 plastic box mods to $150+ steel and wood models

All you have to decide is what ecig you want first. Almost everyone buys a second model by the end of the first month of vaping. And then more later on when they want to try something different or stronger. Slim ecigs are limited to standard resistance (cool to warm) attachments. Fat models and mods can use hotter low resistance atomizers and cartomizers (heat enhances nicotine's hit). And variable voltage mods let you crank up the voltage to increase heat.

I think at minimum it's a good idea to carry more than one battery, have 2 chargers at home so you can charge both batteries at once and one charger at work. And for any ecig you like and depend on, you need spares of everything. Plus, as a new vaper, you need plenty of juice - most new vapers use juice faster than they expected and the mail is slower than they expected.

cheers again guys. Im thinking probably one of the smaller ones to start with. Something that I can easily put in my pocket and sneak the occasional puff at work. Im going to go and have a look at each one that you have mentioned, check them out.

The honey cured tobacco sounds perfect, but will buy a few types and make a session of it!!!

. Im actually pretty excited, cant wait to get one now!

I recommend cartomizers in pockets - atomizer+cartridge can dump its juice since one whole end of cartridge is open. ANd for pants pockets, the screw-on cartomizer on the battery makes a fairly solid unit.

And if you mean shirt pocket consider some kind of pocket protector since until you learn to fill/cleanup/settle cartos and keep them damp but not too damp, even a cartomizer could leak a drop.

There was lots of good advice given here! Get back up battery's and back ups for those! Don't stress about to much detail and start out with a good amount of e-juice and give a Passthrough a look at so your not so dependent on Battery's. WELCOME to the ECF and you'll find a lot of good folks here!!!

Lets start you on something cheap to test the waters. Make sure u want to get into this. Dont go buying extras with this one. 2-3 battery's will be just fine if u want to go with the small battery and kick cigs all together. I say to keep it simple so u can opt in on a full on kick ur .... set up down the road rather then being stuck and frustrated mentally and financially. Thats the biggest reason people fail.

Get this kit and try it out. I suggest that not cause its a popular choice, but cause its what I bought to start with and have been smoke free for 4 months. I now have a $400 set up. You smoke less then I did so this should be all you would need to test the waters. Can also refill them buy taking the top cap off. Id go with just the 2 battery kit. I did mine a lil differant. I bought at a store and it was like $4 more to do it that way since it was two kits with one battery and 3 carts each. That gave me two chargers.
