Well I'm new to the whole vaping...about 1-2 weeks now :2cool: I first bout a 510 (Joye) then on to a Riva today....So far i love both...granted i've been using the Riva with a LR Atty since it's all brand spankin' new! Anyways... Mods...what would the veterans, you all who have been vaping for quite some time now recommend for one to move up to a mod? I don't plan on doing so as of yet since i'm still learning the ends and outs...But eventually i want a mod. Infinity, Provari, Reo, it's crazy and their all awesome devices!!
And what would one recommend as best in your own opinions of course...So..until then i'll be putting some change  aside for that special day!!!

There's so many good mods out there to fit every ones taste, style and price point it would be pointless to recommend one without knowing more about what your wanting specifically. Especially if you aren't ready to get one yet as new ones are introduced all the time. In my personal opinion without knowing more I'd recommend going vv which there are several good choices out there.

I know the learning curve can be expensive but this forum really helps with that.. that being said, I still think that many of us need that learning curve. When I first started and asked for opinions on what I should get (to replace that awful smoking everywhere pos) someone really suggested skipping a step and going straight for the big mods, said that was where everyone ended up anyway. while I really appreciated his advice and think it was great advice, I just wasn't ready for a mod. I didn't know all the ins and outs of the ecig. I ended up buying a standard joye510 and then moving up to an ego (which is what I still use and love) I am ready now to move up to something else, maybe a vv mod but I can't just justify the cost when I have everything I need right now. But if I could afford it, I would love to play with the big boys!

The best thing I have done so far was to get a passthrough for my 801. I don't know, but I suspect that it has a little more power than the regular batteries that are standard. I do know that I get more vapor, and the vape is much more consistant than with the batteries. I use it all the time when at home, and frequently get frustrated when I can't use it. I recently ordered a VV device for when I"m not home, but haven"t gotten it yet.

Make a list of features you want. Connector type, price, size, voltage, battery type, button location, material, look, etc. Then find something that meets your needs.

Some mods may be within your reach right now. You can start out in boxmods for less than $50 for a complete setup if you want to give it a shot for not too much cash. If you know how to solder you can get started for around $30. It's a cheap and effective entry into the world of mods. If that interests you check out Madvapes.

The thing about mods that is great is the fact that your battery will last you all day. That's a huge difference. As well, you can start to experience what 3.7v or 5v and so on does to your vapor experience with regard to heat of the vapor, flavor of the vapor, and amount of vapor production.

I've been using a mod for quite some time, but with my experience, I would say head over to madvapes and get yourself an AA battery box mod kit 510 Box Mod Kit For about $20 you can get yourself the mod kit (you'll need to solder) with everything you need to try out 3.7v vaping (the box kit which comes with the switch, 510 connection, LED, and box - and a 14500 battery and charger). My cheap boxmod kit at 3.7v vapes no differently than my $75 RoughStack mod.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info and insight...ha I could've bought that from madvapes instead of my Riva..Interested! I do love my Riva thus far only day 2 on the Riva...charged the battery yesterday at 12 noon...it still has not died! Seriously!!

I think you made a great choice and you will be very happy. One last thing I didn't mention, if a battery dies on a mod, you can easily swap it out with a new one. Have fun with your Riva, sounds like it's working out great for you!

The difference in the quality and consistency of the vaping experience between a 3.7 volt PV (even a better one like the Riva) and a good 5 volt or variable volt PV is significanat. For a good 5 volt PV, I would recommend the GLV2 from: Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor or for a less expensive option, one of Ken's 5 volt PV's: Box Mods . For the ultimate in vaping flexibility, I would look at a top of the line variable volt PV such as the Darwin: The Darwin
