Hello
I'm debating on my next pv. Kinda stuck between 5v 6v and vv... trying to stay under $100 including a set of batts and charger. I'd like to use some 14500 or cr123 batts as these seem to be used in a variety of mods. Something rugged enough to make it through a day of work in my pocket. I've been looking at Old Goats mods and Silent Soldier's. Both are similiarly priced and have good reviews.... I don't necessarily like the look of box mods, but would rather put one of them up to my mouth than some phallic designs I've seen. The Grip and Reo Grand look nice but are a little out of my range for my second model....maybe for the 3rd. The copper mods are cool, but I'd prefer a button, rather than depressing the tip. I've been looking through the mod List, a lot of models listed are no longer for sale, anyone know of anything else to check out?

Thanks,
Matt

A decent VV will cost more than you want to spend, so you may want to look at a Silver Bullet from altsmoke I think they are still $85 bucks, batteries are $8 I think. At least you can vape at 6V or 3.7 with an 18650, which lasts me for 2plus days on a charge. The the 3V batteries arent very expensive but at 6V you might get 4 or 5 hrs of moderate vaping between charges, There are several mods that fit the bill, but the SB is a nice mod to have in your arsenal.

Thanks dormouse, I was also considering some sort of mod with an option for 6v or 3.7 for that reason. Any advise on other sources for a vv box under $100? Maybe I should just dive in and get a Grip...just afraid of scratching that nice wood up...seems like it would be more of a show piece than a take to work pv.

Studio, thanks for the reply, but I'm pretty sure my wife probably has a silver bullet hidden around the house somewhere.... Sorry, but if I take something named the silver bullet and suck on it, the guys at work would never let me live that down.

I wouldn't go with a straight 6 volt/3.7 volt PV if you really want to step up. I would suggest you look at a straight 5 volt, which on regular attys/cartos is considered the "sweet spot" or a variable volt. The only VV's in your price range (I think) is probably a box mod VV. I would look at Ken's, who is well supported on ECF. For one of the best 5 volts close to your price range, I would suggest the GLV2 which has a legion of fans on ECF.

Box Mods

5 volt GLV 2: Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

Good Luck

Another option -- if you don't mind extremely plain-Jane box mods, is MadVapes has a plain ol' black VV box mod for $35 assembled. Unfortunately they seem to have been out of stock for quite a while, but you can E-Mail then and see if they're going to be making more of them. It's a good way to get your feet wet with VV vaping while only paying about what you'd pay for a basic 510 kit. You still need the 14500 batteries, but you'll need batts with any mod you buy anyway.

I do personally recommend VV if for the biggest reason that it makes it trivial to find your personal vaping sweet spot regardless of the atty or carto you're using.

if you cant afford or dont want VV voltage..

get a mod that uses 18650 3.7v batteries...for instance the Silver Bullet or Omega (my personal favorite) from Altsmoke.

These mods can fit 3.7v, 5v batteries, and 6v batteries.

5v batteries
4.8 Volt NiMH Battery Cell

6v batteries (2 stacked), my personal favorite voltage
AW LiFePO4 3 Volt Lithium Rechargeable Battery

I would post and stock the Classifieds forum here on ECF. can get great deals on PVs

Yup, Have looked at Ken's boxes, but I'd like to have an on/off switch.

The GLV2 is an interesting design... looks like I'd have to use an extension to get a MAP tank to fit though...

Yeah, I'm kicking myself for this... I had two of the vv in my cart and a 5v assembled a few days ago, went back to the site the next day and someone had snatched them all up.

The vmod is a good looking device imo. When they first came out, I was a little put off because they used a proprietary atty. But they seem to be doing a good job of keeping their prices down. I have the e-power and I really like it but I may have to try the vmod one of these days. Here they show using it with a couple of small 3.2 batteries for 6v vaping. (They normally use 14500). At 6v, that's a lot of wattage, even if the atty is 2.8 ohm. I'd like to try it though.

The 14500 is pretty decent for the money and makes even more sense if you're already using them in something.

It's not really a matter of affordability. It's a fear of commitment  I don't want to spend $300 on a PV just to go back to smoking, which I do unfortunately still do.

Had to pad my # to have a chance at the classifieds... which is where I am off to. :vapor:
