Hello!i am super new to the vaping and the culture in general. Unfortunately my significant other has his hands in pretty deep and is already actively building and becoming a part of the culture. I'm just looking for connections and some guidance into this seemingly infinite subculture. So I suppose to begin I would love to know what some favorite and preferred mods/brands/liquid/atomizer and why.

Wow, that's a very broad array of questions, and would take a book to explain it all. Take your time, read the forums, and don't rush it, you can't possibly absorb it all right off anyway. Most of us started out with eGo batteries and clearomizers, and some of us advanced in hardware from that point on. Others just kept on with the eGo rigs, those being a stick like battery with a button on it you push to get power to the clearomizer screwed onto the end of it, which vaporizes the liquid in it's little tank with the little wire coil around a wick in there.
As you go up the hardware ladder the rest of it is variations on that theme, some of them quite elaborate, but that's the basic scheme of it.

Some of it has to do with pride. He is creating relationships with suppliers in the area and keeping up has been a huge struggle. I had a building party in my living room yesterday........ing rice pins....anyway. I've done so much research that my brain hurts And I think I'm to the point now where I'm ready to make a financial investment. For most vapors it seems they have time to trial and error mods etc. so I very acutely feel the pressure of needing to make a well informed purchase. I love pv s but I hate that I seem to have no time for "failure".
Wow, you are under serious pressure, and that's not good at all! I think if I were in your place I'd just proceed at my own pace and let him do his thing. It's not a race, and what he's doing doesn't mean you have to keep up. Have a life of your own. There's plenty of time to learn all this stuff.
Haha it's so good to hear that. I am a brewer and to find such an amazing sub culture like this one is really cool. The beer community is really judgmental and elitist. This is so much more relax, everyone Is so quick to offer answers support and guidance. I feel so excited.
Vape for yourself, not for others. You have all the time in the world to educate yourself. You have all the time you need for trials and error, failure is going back to smoking not buying a bad PV. What you don't have time for is worrying about the opinion of elitist vapers.
It's great you are getting into vaping, and the culture surrounding it, just don't let the pressure you are feeling burn you out, it shouldn't be about pressure. You should have an enjoyable learning experience and satisfying vapes as you go, not pressure to meet the expectations of others or keep up with them. Everyone moves at their own speed, or at least they should. It's a lot more fun that way.
Well all of this "World" is personal preferences.
Mods? Whatever floats your Boat.
E-Liquids? Whatever tastes good to you. This part is even more subjective than the battery and tank, carto, clearo devices you use to vaporize the liquid.
What one person likes someone else will think it STINKS. Never tasted something so foul. Then there are concessions. a few e-liquid that most people like are Halo's Tribeca and Alien Vapor's BOBA's Bounty. They work for me.
As for others I am a Blender. About the only e-liquid I use straight it the Halo's Tribeca, maybe some BOBA's Bounty every now and then. But mostly I blend multiple flavors into something I can vape all day and that changes every time I fill up another tank.
I vape on multiple devices throughout the day.

Atomizers? Kayfun is my top Atty. Before that is was the Aspire Nautilus. Before that it was some Aspire ET-S units, which I no longer use but they are in a closet just in case I need them.
But right now there are many atomizers that get the job done. Most any from Kanger and Aspire work very well. Both of those companies have been around for a while and produce some very good vape gear.
The bottom line is "Whatever gets you off and keeps you off cigarettes" is the right gear for you.
It took me almost a year to get into rebuildables and mech mods, while some of my friends made the jump in a couple of months. It is definitely all about your own pace. Are you trying to quit smoking? That will help determine where you start on Nicotine level.

So a battery with variable voltage (like an Ego Twist or a Spinner), and a tank that allows you to change the draw (Kanger AeroTank or Aspire Nautilus are good examples). That way, you can play with it to find what you like and what you don't like. And when you're ready to go deeper, you already have an idea of the direction you'd like to go.

Ok my suggestion.
Battery system.
1) Provari from Provape. Made in USA, good warranty and from what I hear great service if you ever need it.
2) Innokin iTaste MVP V2. It is a box mod but a very good and well tested box mod
3) Innokin iTaste VV V3 or a Vision Spinner II. Both have variable voltage and the iTaste VV has a variable wattage feature also (something I don't use even if the battery systems has it).
Atomizers.
Kanger Aerotank Mega or Mini
Aspire Nautilus
And if you want to wrap your own coils a Kayfun Lite + V2 clone. I prefer the EHPro model over the other 2 I have. A Tobeca and a Hcigar.

You'll save a bundle mixing eliquid for the two of you, and with that money you can afford hardware.
A simple but excellent and respected set up for a newbie, (like my wife & myself), is the MVP 2.0 & the Aspire Nautilus. You can pick up both from 101Vape for a total about $60. Then just chill and enjoy! ! Both my wife & I are in different vape modes but get by GREAT with this setup.

Oh I've done so much tasting it's crazy. I love a harsher draw bit variable airflow is my biggest thing. I love e liquid. I am really amazed by its concept and diversity. Definitely prefer mechanical mods. I have yet to get my hands on a vape with metal mesh vs cotton but I'm almost positive I'll end up building vertical to achieve this.
I'm familiar with your atomizer suggestions but only the Pavari battery system. I have to look into that and get back to you!
I take it that you are familiar with electronics to be safe when using mech mods?
Thank you so much! I've been exploring strictly mechanical but my friend has a Hanah that I love so I should probably start learning g more about controllable voltage systems.
