Many thanks to the folks here and all of the advice! Now it seems I have a problem developing...

This all started with an innocent web-search on e-cigarettes, which brought me ultimately to two main sites- here to ECF and the Volcano brand e-cig web site. After some research, I decided a week ago (today) to order a full kit from Volcano to get started vaping. Opted for their Inferno kit with both the tank and drip options and threw in some extra liquid and a few odds-and-ends. No sooner had I clicked "submit order" when my wife asks "what am I supposed to use?" I suggested we try out the new gadget I just ordered and see how we like it...

My Inferno comes in, put it together loaded with some "Choconilla Haze" and BAM! Good vapage and there was much rejoycing! :vapor: Little issue with the drip attys (already handled by Volcano) but overall quite impressed! So back to the Volcano site the next day, this time ordering their Magma kit for the wife, again with some extra liquid, some cartos and other odds-and-ends...

Magma kit shows up, set up with several new juices (RY in her case) and figured out the clearomizers and BAM! Again, good vapage and more rejoyincg! :vapor: Everything going well, until the wife asks "so what is Ma (her Mother) going to use; she really shouldn't be smoking cigarettes and she likes this..." So back to the Volcano site AGAIN last night, ordering yet another Magma kit and of course again with some extra liquid, a new tank-o for both the Inferno and a Magma, and other odds-and-ends...

This is less than a week since the very 1st order and it is already out of control- three full kits and associated goodies and quite a few different flavors at the ready! Not complaining; digging it in fact! No analogs for me since Monday evening when I put my Inferno into service and haven't missed them once! In fact it has been the opposite; my wife and mother-in-law smoke on our front porch and the smell is very noticable and nasty. Not trying to sound preachy, but thankful I don't smell like that and don't miss it for a second plus the flavor of the juices are very nice compared to any analog! Gotta say my unexpected favorite flavor is cinnamon (their Red Hot Lava flavor) even mixed with some apple flavor and looking forward to delivery of their Kona Coffee flavor.

Not intended as a Volcano brand "leg-hump" here but their gear, customer service and liquids have been top notch thus far! I realize I could get the same stuff elsewhere and maybe save a little, but they have given me no reason to shop elsewhere- very impressed with them and really digging vaping so far!

Yea, this may already be getting out of control... "Hee, hee!" :p

The way I figure it, I'm willing to pay a little more for good service, good reliability, and a brand identity I trust...

Volcano is well respected, and has been around since the beginning. It's so great that you're excited and eagerly sharing it with your family!

Plus, as soon as you get the hang of refilling or dripping, it really does become much less expensive than traditional analogs. What you're experiencing is a common story shared by practically everyone here (spend a good chunk to get started - then settle in) - - - So I say "Congratulations!!!"

Enjoy it! It is one of the best gifts you can give yourself and the people you care about!

Hi Allen,

Welcome! And yes, I share your pain. What started off as a simple little venture to remove me from the regular cigs has sparked the fire in my OCD for all things tech. I started off with the very first systems, lost interest (due to initial quality issues) but recently returned. I'm amazed to see how much technology has jumped in such a short period of time. I now own a standard 510-t setup, 2 1000mah Mega eGo batteries with USB passthrough, Sabre Touch Mini, a bottom fed box mod, and heaven help me, but I just can't stop looking at the Provari site!!

Is this heaven, or is it hell? Not sure, but it's going to be a fun ride! And no... we don't have any control over it.

Just let it happen! :)

LMAO, only because that's a happy story, and soooo typical!

Just wait until your bride starts requesting vaping equipment for Christmas, Mother's Day, birthday, anniversary and every third Tuesday...

Grats!!! And great story!

And FYI - label your Inferno (Ego) charger on both sides of where the battery screws on so nobody accidentally charges their Magma (510) on that cable. And Ego cable will slowly damage slim battery 510's. A 510 cable should output somewhere between 150-250mA for charging slim batteries. The Ego/Inferno cable should be putting out 420mA (a fast charger) for charging the big Inferno battery. 420mA can damage slim batteries.

I had TWO vendors incorrectly give me 420mA cables instead of slim 510 cables and I damaged 5 slim 510 batteries before finding both culprit cables. (damaged as in they lost their ability to hold much charge at all and their protection circuits weren't flashing/cutting off the battery when out of power). So make sure the Inferno cable is only used to charge Inferno.

Also - the Inferno can use any of Magma's attachments like atomizers or cartomizers. But the opposite is not true. Inferno can use (and may have come with) LR (low resistance, low ohms) atomizers and cartomizers for greater vapor heat. But LR stuff can damage the slim batteries. So you'll need to check if your inferno came with any LR stuff (I consider stuff below 2.5 ohms to be LR though some consider 510 stuff below 2.3 to be LR). And figure out a way to distinguish between any LR stuff and standard resistance stuff.

Consider buying additional charging cables and a spare manual battery for each of the Magmas (the manuals are sealed on the threaded end, safe from damage or death from juice leaks, and make it easier to get a good hit). And look around for some multiport USB to AC adapters that provide a total amps that divides to at least 500mA per port. Like 2amps is 2000mA so a 4 port 2amp USB to AC could charge up to 4 Inferno size batteries at once or any smaller combination of 4. The adapters I use are now hard to find at a reasonable price (Rosewill RUC6180 and RUC6181)

Allen, congrats on going analog-free so successfully, and introducing your family to vaping, too. You've only been vaping for a week? Not only are you doing fantastic things for yourself and your family, you've hit what I think of as the "conversion point" in record time!

I've seen a dozen or so friends completely switch from smoking to vaping, and also seen a handful try it and fall back on tobacco and lose interest in the e-cigs instead. I know two who vape at work or at school but don't intend to give up smoking, either. There seems to be to be a dividing line. We all start out hoping, openly or secretly, realistically or not, that vaping will be just like smoking, only... you know, not. We want something that looks like a cigarette, feels like a cigarette, tastes like a cigarette, because we're smokers and what we actually want is a cigarette.

...And then almost immediately, everybody goes off in a different direction with it. Some people concentrate on keeping it as close to smoking as possible. Others head off into 501s, or mega batteries with tanks, or mods that look like little juice boxes or screwdrivers or laser pointers. But everyone I know who switched from tobacco to ecigs completely and successfully, myself included, share one common experience: At some point, we stopped thinking of vaping as "that thing I do instead of smoking (like I want to do)" and started thinking of it as "that thing I do," full stop. Vaping became an activity in itself for us, a hobby even, not just a substitute. The ones who strike out to explore what makes vaping different are the ones who seem to completely lose interest in smoking, even when they didn't intend to quit.

At the beginning, when you've just bought your first kit a few days ago and already want something else, it might feel like you're going a little crazy with new types or new flavors, switching from 2-piece to 3 or vice versa, moving to longer battery life, trying out low resistance atties, investing in a high voltage rig, or -- heaven help you -- eyeballing a beautiful-but-pricey mod. And even with the crazy doubling and redoubling of tobacco prices over the last few years, you may even find yourself initially spending more on vaping than you would on cigarettes, if you get really self-indulgent exploring this new territory.

Don't let that stop you.

Check my sig: if anything, that "savings" is an underestimate. It takes into account my regular monthly expenditures: old familiar juice, new flavors of juice, a new atomizer or two whether I think I need one or not, and a disposable for the hurricane evacuation kit (AKA "the curious smoker-friend donation fund"). I used to smoke a carton a week, and when I quit, my corner store was giving me a regular-customer deal: $75/carton. For one and a half years, at $75/week, that's $5850 not spent on cigarettes. I can't imagine the price has dropped in that time. Have I spent $3000 in a year and a half on vaping? At an indulgent $60/month on juice and supplies, I'd have spent $1080. With the purchase of my shiny new $250 mod and the $200 tank to complete it, I'd say I might have spent another $750 on various kits, components, replacement batteries, passthroughs, and mods. Definitely not $3000, and nowhere near the ~$6000 on smokes.

And let's not talk about the medical bills that haven't come up this year -- the allergy treatments, sinus infections, and bronchitis I haven't had to deal with.

Have fun with that wild, indulgent feeling; it might be one of your best allies! But don't talk yourself into seriously thinking you've gone too far. As long as you're having fun finding what really appeals to you most, you're not going overboard, just maximizing your chances of an optimal ROI.

I love reading posts like yours, Allen! I know the excitement factor, too. I'm alone, so don't have someone over my shoulder saying "Where's mine?", and all that, but this whole opening of an entire new world...yeah, it gets fun!

And Jaka...that was one of the greatest posts I think I've read here!

I was concerned about the chargers and such looking at them (they are totally different looking with the Inferno one clearly labeled) so I gave Volcano a quick call when the Magma (510) kit came in. They echoed what you advised and were VERY helpful. I have to say the only real detractor about them (Volcano) so far is the lack of instructions included with the actual Inferno (eGo) kit. If it weren't for ECF and their own online forum, I would have been totally lost.

I automatically assumed the low-res attys from the Inferno would place too much load on the Magma batteries and you confirmed it- I think their store is pretty specific about it, over-and-above just listing them as Inferno and labeling them as such. Since "our" setups are using tanks as primary and cartos (clearomizers to be specific) as back-ups I think we've gone with the most "swappable" setup as possible with a little caution. We went with all manual batteries on the Magmas just to improve reliability and better overall performance- based on very helpful suggestions from the ECF crew!

Just filled and installed the tank setup on the wife's Magma loaded with the Choconilla Haze... she's really digging it! I'm trying out the RY4 in a carto... not bad but already not a personal favorite. I seems almost perfume tasting- maybe a different brand/blend.

Thanks again for all of the help and info- true life saver!

Now I either need a 2nd job or open my own Vape Bar/Coffee house! If the taxes, rent and utilities weren't so damn high up here (in CT) I would jump on opening my own place!
