Have been doing DIY for about 4 months... Just this past week I noticed 2 Ecto batches I made up about 10 days ago have a decidedly soapy taste to them after they've been vaped a few times... Have tried different clearos (T3 & Mini Vivi) with the same result... Also noticed a similar taste on a store-bought batch of cigar... Any thoughts?

I'm not too sure about that lemon juice advice. I've added lemon juice and turned my batch into a soap flavor so I find this strange but it probably depends on flavor. Mine was a fruit. It Might be your taster. Are tou using Attiesor cartos? Sometimes cartos can mute a soapy tone. Dilute with something benign? like VG mutes flavors. Malty sometimes helps and Bavarian cream too works in a lot of things gone bad. Or cover it all up menthol. I hate menthol. Pinapple is bold

Steeping with the cap off in hot water also causes foaming and a soapy taste. That foam is all the flavor molecules being dissipated. The only reason to remove the cap is for about 15 minutes to burn off alcohol. That's all the time it takes. Steep with the cap on and shake occasionally. Lemon juice works with fruit flavors, especially cherry and strawberry which are notorious for their soapy taste. I won't get into the long, boring chemistry. but it works for me.

Sounds like overflavoring imo. Upon first vape, it tastes good, but as the flavors try to marry and blend well it turns soapy/chemical. When I DIY, I don't even bother tasting anything until day 4ish of steep. Sometimes they taste great right off the bat and awful later, and other times they taste like nothing immediately but after a week they're my new ADV.
