In defense of the whiners—myself included there—when I woke to find the abomination of tacky FB & Twitter links emblazoned into every post, it didn't have the look of a glitch.
I think glitch when something isn't working—like non-functional My Posts, for instance. When something is working—like FB & twitter links to popular culture at its worst—I default to the notion of deliberate intent. And, in this case, to an ECF blunder of New Formula Coke magnitude.
I would agree with this post.
As for the comments about glitches and things getting fixed or resolved, in hindsight I will now agree.
But that is only because I just today found out I can shut off those damn social media buttons at the top of the forum.
I remember when those came out and I was not happy, because it caused about a 4 to 8 second delay in loading pages.
I learned to live with it because I was not aware I had any other choice.
So when "The Great Social Media Button Debacle of 2012" happened to me this morning, I thought I would have to live with that as well.
The fact that it was remedied so quickly is most likely due to all the whining that was being done.
If I had known there was eventually a simple fix for the previous social media button issue I would have held my tongue.
But since I was not aware of that, I shifted directly into whine mode.
