I kinda stumbled onto this on accident and have been messing around with it more lately. I think getting liquid on the lips or in my mouth has been the only thing I hate about vaping. I thought I would share my solution.
I have been told the reason why liquid gets on my lips or on the top of the V4L cool cart cartomizer was from filling them up too much. This may be true, however I don't believe that is the only reason. This occurs on pre-filled cartos as well as the ones I am filling myself. When you take a vape, most of the vapor leaves the cartomizer, but some stays inside and can start to gather on the bottom of the white plug. Condensation of sorts if you will. After a time, because the hole in the white plug is the same size as the small tube inside the cartomizer, you have a straw effect going on which will eventually suck in the gathered juice on the bottom of the plug. Ewww bad taste on lips and mouth.
SOLUTION 1: My accidental solution was to remove the white plugs on top of the cartomizer and replace with a drip tip. This is a much larger hole and will not create the same straw suction effect. After more then a week of testing - zero splash back has occurred.
SOLUTION 2: A much cheaper solution is to take a condom and using scissors cut a hole at the bottom of it, make sure it is larger then the hole in the white plugs. Remove the white plug from the cartomizer and place the condom on top of your carto, pushing it all the way down on the carto. This creates a much larger hole also ruining the suction straw effect. You will actually be able to see the juice gathering in small drops around the edge, but with the hole so large none will come through. After 3 days of testing - zero splash back has occurred.
SOLUTION 3: I just did this today so not much testing. I purchased a punch from the hardware store and punched a larger hole into the white plugs. (you can also use the punch on the rubbers) This also ruins the straw effect and so far, with only a few hours of testing has resulted in zero splash back on the lips.
Hurray the one thing I hated about vaping is now gone... woohooo
