so this might be dumb lol, but vaping has been great and i dont smoke at all from sunday to friday, but when i do have some drinks on the weekend, its so tempting to have some real cigs, and i did last time i drank. I've been vaping mostly 6 or 12 mg juices, which is on the weaker side right? any suggestions how to not get smoke an analog on those nights when everyone around you is? maybe get an 18 or 24 mg juice? will that satisfy the craving? :)

I find that its not about the nicotine level - its more about a careful choice of juice, its got to have a really strong throat hit!

I use a menthol or cinnamon based juice and a higher pg level will give a kick. A good aniseed/liquorice helps also as its not that you're craving more nicotine - its a habit. I smoked tons when I drank so try out a stronger eliquid (as in flavour)

2 possible solutions

1. quit drinking for a couple of months, its not as if thats gonna hurt you.Hopefully by then you wont want a cigarette ever again. I didn drink at all for the first couple of months I stopped smoking and now im past the 2 year mark.

2. buy a variable voltage mod and bump the voltage up a bit when drinking. It helps

I couldn't avoid the analogs while drinking, I can't explain what I used to feel, but I just couldn't do it. So I quit drinking and it worked for me :D double goodness

I agree, I think it is all about flavor choice. When I drink a beer I like an RY4 type flavor as opposed to a fruity sweet or even a creamy. When I smoked analogs I was so ...... they banned smoking in bars.

A bar is for "smoking AND drinking" Now I ask the bartender if I can "vape". 99% of the time it is OK. I don't blow huge clouds and make sure no-one else is bothered.
So, at the end of the day I can smoke in the bar again! AND yes I do like vaping much more then analogs. Even when I drink.

Johnson Creek has some strong tobacco flavors. I personally don't like them, but it might be worth a shot for a "real" tobacco flavor

Don't sweat the small stuff!

What I found worked for me was to have a 'punchy' vape ready for those times. Nicotine is really the only way to get TH, so if that's what you need, don't skimp on it. I found for me tobacco flavors were good too.

How much nic you need depends on you. I vaped 18 mg when I switched from smoking and I never went above that. Your hardware plays an important role here too. Clearos at 6 watts and 18 mg may be equal to RDAs at 25 watts and 3 mg. I would experiment ahead of time and get an idea of what worked for me.

Would the flavor choice or nic level make a difference? It's a will power thing, isn't it? 1 month out from quitting my husband and I went to a party at a bar. It certainly wasn't easy watching everyone and smelling all that smoke. But it was a matter of fighting it. I don't know that anything I could have done would have made it easier to resist other than my head, but that's me. I do things the hard way.

I'll tell you this....it was a battle and I was sucking on my vape so hard I could have sucked a damn ping pong ball through the tip. But... We made it through the night :)

When I first quit tobacco it probably would have been an issue for a while. I couldn't imagine not having a cig after a meal or with coffee. Now, it's absolutely normal and rewarding to vape with coffee, after a meal, or with a beer. I just don't think about cigarettes, ever.

Time heals that tobacco company created urge to smoke if you work at it for a short while. There's something in it that makes you think you can't live without it. Once you make your mind up that you won't be controlled by tobacco, vaping is all you need. It's a mental thing. Once you condition your brain to realize that you don't smoke anymore it responds and adjusts and the cravings cease.

Will power? In the beginning isn't that what got you through monday-friday? Basically, I don't consider myself a smoker any longer. Took a little more to break the social habbit of smoking than it did smoking at home though. If you can do it monday-friday, you can make that same choice no matter what situation you're in!

I had to quit drinking with the crew, for a few months when I first started vaping. It was really the only solution for me. Once vaping and I had become good stable friends, and I no longer had the craving for cigs, then me and boozing could become friends again.

Also, I am totally anti-social, and I dont go out with them to the ciggie circle. To break old habits, you gotta totally break some rituals, because for me, sometimes smoking was about the ritual just as much as the nicotine and other crap i was burning up, in a cig.

drinking was hard for me too, always wanted a cigarette. On a whim I picked up a bottle of eonsmoke "president"24mg at a gas station prior to going to friends. Man, this stuff kicks like a mule! big throat hit! I actually kind of like it now, though it is not an ADV. I added some VG to it just to tone it down a little later. worked for me, I needed the kick while drinking.

I had the same problem when I started vaping... Now I just passed the 2 year mark with no smokes... (sort of a lie, I tried 1 drag off a friends a few months ago, gave it right back cause it tasted like crap)

The 2 things your missing are throat hit, and that little extra buzz you get from a regular smoke... If you bump up you nic to 18 or 24 (I'd go right to 24) that'll give you more thoat hit and a little buzz when you hit it... I used a tobacco flavor..sometimes mix in a little menthol flavor, and stick to that when your drinking you should be good to go...

and remember its not the same as smoking, it never will be but eventually time changes your concept from I need a smoke, to I need to vape... and for me after about a year, I only vape while drinking now, still with a 18 nic and tobacco flavor, my piece sits on the charger sun-thurs

What I've found over these 8 1/2 months is if your nicotine is strong enough you should be fine. I use 24 MG and for me that keeps me satisfied. The rest of it is mental. When my buddies go for a smoke, I go with them and vape instead. With the right amount of nicotine, you will be completely satisfied. And as far as the mental part, tell yourself, vaping WILL satisfy me and I DON'T need a cigarette. . When ever or where ever you smoked, just vape now. Remember you are a NON smoker now. As long as your nicotine is sufficient you will be just fine. I've found vaping to be much more satisfying than smoking ever was!!you CAN do this! ! Just tell yourself smoking is NOT a option. Vape as much as you want and you will find it much easier to not smoke as time goes on. You CAN do this! !this is what has worked for me and I smoked 2 packs a day for almost 30 years!!! I hope this is helpful to you! Best wishes.

Another trick you could try -- its something I do now and then -- for a more satisfying hit

Instead of doing a normal vape - mouth to lung inhale, try and draw loosely on your ecigarette, allowing half vape and half air directly into your lungs. Its one way to get a decent hit, but practice as it doesnt come automatic! You will get loads of vapour, lots of taste and a headrush! :vapor:
