Hi guys,

Been lurking this forum for the past few days and am really thinking about making the switch to e cigs or at least try to. That's why I'm posting this as to get the proper info as to what the best route to go is as far as a beginer getting into this. im sure you guys get this question alot. So to put it simple what is the best beginer set up. I've been looking at a 510 or 510 t starter kit. Not really sure what the tank does as the site I was browsing on lacked details. I am in Canada any and all info/insight would be greatly appreciated tyty:blink:

Check out this thread before you start a new thread: What to buy for new comers

You should have plenty of advice in that thread above in order to make an informed decision.

For starting out I think I would recommend starting with the KGO, which is available from several different suppliers. I would then add some LR and SR cartomizers to try and get started. If you want a cheap tank to try look at the Dual Coil Tanks and get some LR cartos for them. I am not sure what is available in Canada but all of these would be available I would think. The tank just holds juice around the cartomizer in the middle and continually feeds juice to it through a hole in the cartomizer. Good luck and after you read link in the above post you will either have a little better idea or be totally confused. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum birdmann.

If you want a battery that lasts longer then a few hours I recommend you get an eGo sized kit. Also some StarDusts, they are very easy to use & don't leak. Personally I get all my gear at canvape, he has great prices & ship orders out fast.

When you order juice, it's a good idea to get a bunch of different sample flavors, that way if you don't like some of them it hasn't cost you a lot of money.

Once you have 5 posts you can post in different parts of the forum, there's a CAdadian section, come check it out. You'll get lots of great advise there.

Would you say that can vape has the best prices as far as Canadian retailers go? I noticed they don't sell juice with nic in it which wont be of much help to me. Was gona order The juice from cdnvapor can you recomend them? I kinda hate having to order from two different sites but can vape's prices are so much better it seems.

You could go the 510 route. Small battery means short charge life. I started with the 510, but quickly tired of a battery that lasted me 30 mins and took 90 mins to recharge. Some folks say they will go for an hour before needing a charge.

The eGo is about as big around as a Sharpie marker. The 510 about as big around as a Bic pen. Either will fit in my pocket pretty easily...

Welcome to ECF :)

The more portable, smaller cig shaped ones will require charging more often or at least carrying around multiple e-cigs / batteries.

Depending on your habits with analogues, this may not matter. I was a pretty heavy smoker, and even being off them for over a month I can still easily just puff away all day, my SDK and similar devices wouldn't work well for me. If you don't use it that often, say only a few puffs each hour, then one of those would work fine.

How I quit analogs: I was thinking about quitting smoking and just bought one of those disposable e-cig ones. I smoked both e-cigs and analogs for a few months and happen to run out of my pack of analogs. I used my simple disposable one exclusivity and found out I did not need analogs any more. Thus a new vapor smoker was borne. I'm really into the ego-c right now. I see my future as a MOD. One step at a time...

Yes after all the reading in the last few days plus that last thread I'm really confused lol the only reason I wanna go the 510 route is the simularity to a real cig... I like the ego"s but they just seem to big for an everyday traveling to work smoke ect. I cold be way off on this because I have never seen one with my own eyes...

Ego's (3.4volt) are about the size of a standard sharpie marker and if that is ok I would go with a Riva or Kgo (same form as an ego but they are 3.7volt). If that doesn't seem to suit you I think you should look into the Volt, which is a cig-a-like style and although I have never tried them they seem to be highly recommended. BTW for each 100mah a battery is rated = +/- 1 hour of battery life, so 650mah is roughly 6.5 hrs and 1100mah +/- 11hrs. Good luck and I HTH.

Just found this Fat Boy 510 Thread 1300mAh Battery Black or is this still a waste of time.
I can't comment on the fatboy, but I did notice the epower on that site and I have seen those recommended often as well. I believe they are the same size as a 1100mah KGO, but with the added benefit of having replaceable batteries and switch. Batteries do go bad after some time, so instead of having to buy a whole new KGO/Ego/Riva you can just by a new battery or a new switch at a fraction of the cost.

Birdmann,

After you've tried vaping, I think you'll be less concerned with how it looks and more concerned with quality. Most people want their batteries to look like cigarettes so they can be incognito, but you'll find that there is a whole community (as you've discovered) who no longer use the analog-looking e-cigs.

Once I got over that, I really enjoyed vaping for what it is.

Here's a photo of how it looks compared to a Sharpie.

My batteries last several days. I rarely have to charge them. I charge them once every other day, and I usually have a backup on hand. Or I switch between dripping into my atomizer and my tank. As seen in the picture above.

Once you get your hands on an eGo, you'll probably want to go higher. I'm already wanting warmer vape, more power, higher resistance, etc. and I've only been vaping a couple weeks.

So with whatever product you choose, make sure you do your research. Egos are a great place to start and a lot of people on the forums still use their Egos. ;)

Hey thanks for posting that pic! I really thought the ego style battery Was much bigger. I think I will end up with an ego very soon. I almost feel as if I have to pay my dues on the 510, like a right of passage lol. I mean what if I just dont like e smoking right. The site I order from has an ego Riva set but gives you the choice between a 650 mah and 1100 mah for the same price. Whats the reasoning behind this?
