do we know what amount of amperage these things are rated to put out? that is, what can they put out without stressing the electronics (and/or the battery cell) inside? a 1.5 ohm atty at 3.7v draws 2.47 A of current, and if these things aren't rated to put that out, then we're looking at a decrease in their lifespan (stress is bad, mkay? :p) with the use of the amazingly awesome cisco LR 306 (among others. if there's a thread floating around about this, please point me there :)

The formula is mAh rating / 1000 multiplied by the C rating will provide the Amperage draw for an hr.

e.g 650mAh/1000 = 0.65A When the C rating is unknown, it is to be considered as 1. Even the 900mAh batt is insufficient to fire LR attys.

There is more to it than that, but these are the short strokes.

Informed sources say ... yeah, too low resistance = threat to ego-type batteries.

Now, I'm seeing 1.5 ohm Mega cylinder atomizers offered. What's up with that? Any reason to think they're more safe?
I don't see how they could be. But, no warnings for either type (510 or Mega LRs) from the suppliers.

No, it doesn't matter whether it is an atty or a carto. Vendors sell stuff, vapers use sold products.

that's what i thought, thanks guys. just wanted to double check. so i'd be much better off with a battery like AW 18650 Protected 2200 mAh Rechargeable Lithium Battery (which has a c rating of 2, confirmed via e-mail) in my aloha mod (18650/2x rcr123a flashlight mod from ivape.net). i've got some 2000 mAh trustfires that i picked up at the same time as the mod, and they've worked ok for a while, but i need to break down and get the AW's i think.
