Well, I received my order today containing my Very First tanks and Replacement Cartos . . .

Admittedly my eyes were full of sleep and my brain of cobwebs, but the 4 2.0 ohm DVCT replacement cartos looked like they had NOT been pre-punched . . . no holes visible on the metal cartridges at all.

I did not unwrap anything, just slipped it all back into the envelope, but . . . Is this correct?? Do I need to punch my own holes in these darn things, and if so, with WHAT??

TIA.

There should be 2 small holes down near the flange, opposite eachother. You should not need to punch them yourselves. I advise contacting CS for replacements if you are certain there are no holes.

+1. Eleanor, there definitely should be 2 x small holes just up from the flange. If there aren't, contact CS - you definitely do not need to punch them yourself. Hang in there Lady El, tanks really are worth it - IMHO.

If I can tank, you can do it too

Sooo, have you tried it yet?
:pop::pop::pop:

No. . .

C'mon El, tell us your tank experience, I'm sure it will be memorable :D

That's what I'm afraid of.

Actually, I think I'm going to try it this evening . . . I'll be parked in front of the computer, carefully re-watching Snow's "How-to-Fill-A-Tank" video, and try to follow along (remember, my computer is mute, so I can't hear what he's saying.)

The only part I'm completely in the dark about ATM is this "primer puff" or "Dry burn" I hear some people allude to. What the . . ??

Great post as always morandir. I second this info I've filled my tank at least 10 times so far. It cost 10 bucks and the carts are only about 3.50 ( without the discount ) . Think about what a standard carto costs ? Lets look at this example assuming we got 20% off the products , we dont refill and we include the juice cost and get 50 mls out of the tank n cart ( cause thats how we roll :2cool: )

Tank + one replacement carto 100 mls of usage ( thats over 3 bottles of juice ..... holy cow )

Tank + one carto 10.40 3.33 bottles of juice at 12$ each ( nobacco usa only folks ) 9.99
100 mls of awesomeness for 40.40

100 / 1.50 <--- Ml's / amount of mls that a wow could take ( generously ) = 66 carts @ 1.60 ea ( 10.00 a pack / 5 per pack) = 105.60

105.60 spent on carts to get what you would for only 40.40 with the tanks !! Obviously benefits and drawbacks as well ( convenience , variety etc ) and I know my math isnt spot on there are better sales from time to time, you could refill bla bla bla. But the savings are apparant. If you havn't checked out tanks check em out. Great post.

Interesting take, blight... but I think that's basically a comparison of the most-efficient use of tanks vs the least-efficient use of cartos. The way I like to look at it is that a tank carto is about 50% more expensive than a standard CoolCart or WOW carto. Does it provide at least 50% better performance? I'd guess it probably does. I usually run 20-30 ml of Outlaw Apple through a tank carto before trashing due to taste degradation. I'm not sure how much could be run through a CoolCart without sacrificing taste but it would have to be at least 13-20 ml in order to break even in performance. None of this even takes convenience into account as the time saved would be valued differently for each person.

My math could be way off as well but I generally agree that tanks have the advantage. And there very well may be people who fall into the scenario you mentioned above. If so, the potential for savings is enough reason to try them.
