A week ago today I bought an eleaf istick50w with a basic tank. I vape kinda heavily but only at 6.5-8 watts and use mostly clear and thin juice. Last night I stared experiencing a burnt hit so I took everything apart to clean it and see if I could clean the coil, thinking that was suffice I reassembled everything and still get a burnt hit. Thinking the coil was just shot I went to the vape shop this morning and got 2 replacement bvc coils and changed it and I'm still getting a burnt hit just not as harsh.

Just did this and added new juice and I still have the burnt taste

You must have burnt your new wicking........Once you do that then you will never get the yucky taste out of it....... That's the reason why you have to FIRST prime a coil with juice before you ever attempt to use it.... Take a new coil and place about 10 drops or so of ejuice on the cotton and then put the coil into the tank that is filled with e juice and let it set for about 10 minutes before you even try to use it. After letting it set, then try toking off of it.

    Just some tips in general:

Burnt/harsh hits are generally from a bad coil or burnt wick, not priming a new coil adequately, not throwing out the burnt juice (burnt taste leaches into the juice from the burnt coil/wick), firing a new coil at too high of a power setting (start low and gradually increase to your sweet spot), e-liquid not keeping the wick wet enough to prevent burning it (may be prevented by doing primer puffs occassionally).

Alright so I took the second coil I got and primed it by adding 10 drops of eliquid then I put it in my mod now I'm letting it sit so we'll see what happens I guess

Make sure that you start out with the lowest power possible for the first few puffs.... That is if your device has adjustable power.... After taking a few puffs at low power then increase it a few watts and take a few more puffs. Your wick and coil have to be broken in at low power otherwise they will simply burn and you will get yuck all over again.

Alright I have it set at 5w the lowest setting but I'm still letting it sit so it really soaks up the juice. I haven't had a good vape since early last night so I'm kinda desperate

lol -- I understand that one! Yeah the wick has to get good and soaked.....New wicks tend to taste sort of funny at first anyway until they get broken in......... So, just take a few puffs at the lowest wattage, then increment it a couple of watts every few puffs.

Once you burn a wick you can forget about ever using it again.

Are you letting the coils soak in juice for a bit, they've changed to cotton so they will burn if they're not well primed.

I don't know about the 50w iSticks but the 20w versions can randomly over power and need re-setting. So try this:
    - in watts go to highest power and fire up briefly (just enough to register)
    - now to lowest watts and fire up again
    - now switch to volts, set at highest voltage and fire up
    - now at lowest voltage and fire up
    - now go back to watts and put on your usual setting and it should be fine.

Thank you guys for advice and tips, the guys at the vape shop we're worthless to me. I have been taking light puffs and bumping up the watts every so often, I'm going kinda slow just to make sure I let it get soaked but the flavor has improved drastically. I'm only at 6.2 so I'm getting close to my sweet spot again. Thank you again!

    Some follow up ?'s tho
-how long should these coils typically last? What can I do to improve the life of them?
-does anyone know about (Not a topic for discussion here) with my istick?
