I'm not buying that one for a second. Unless it's nothing more than a marketing gimmick?

There has to be some advantage to setting it at a higher wattage (or lower). Battery life? Amount of vapor?

I say again, Personal Preference!
Yes, for some longer Battery life by setting lower, for some more vapor at higher watts, for some just the taste at a higher or lower setting.

Wattage describes how hot the coil runs. You can go too high or too low. I like around 7 watts which my eGo-sized APV easily provides.

I believe there is a easy setting on the Vamo that does exactly that....automatically.....That's it....I just going to have to purchase a Vamo to answer your question. By the way.....got any questions on the Provari????:p

The VAMO will set it to Your desired wattage or voltage, as you set it, in combination of the ohms of the coil.
I use 1.2 1.5 1.8 and 2 ohm coils (most dual coil). I set the vamo at 7 watts and it sets the thing up to provide 7 watts.
As I said for the eVic, it will set it self up to what it thinks it should be in combination with the coil and you can adjust it from there.

Ahhh. OK. Got it now!

**sigh** I really don't need another toy, but damn. I DO like the look of that eVic! Which means I need additional batteries. And more tanks. And more tank parts.

Did your other half get a 2600mAh battery with hers? How long does it last?

Yes, it came with the pink 2600mAh battery and for her, it will last 3 days. She does also use a vamo and an ego-t upgrade (18650). All of hers will last 3 to 4 days. I generally have to change out my batteries once a day (vamo, GG Chine clone and an ego-t upgrade..)

Incorrect. It will recommend 5.2 Watts regardless of the resistance of the coil. The 5.2 Watts is simply a static, safe, recommendation. But if you've set it to provide 7.0 Watts, it'll adjust the voltage to provide those 7 Watts, after reading the resistance of the coil you attach to it.
That's how it is on the 1.2 firmware anyway.

I'm not going to rush out and buy anything new right away. I'm happy (for the most part) with the eGo C Twists I have. But..... I have a couple of clearomizers that don't have the resistance printed on them, and having a device that read the resistance and then adjusted accordingly would be nice to have (Provided I even give them a try. Enjoying the Vivi Novas and MT3!).

eVic does that.

Well, actually, the eVic SUGGESTS a power setting for a particular atty, but it doesn't automatically set itself there.

I almost NEVER go with the suggested setting on my eVic. For tobacco flavors, I'm often WAY higher, and for sweet or fruity flavors, I cn be higher or lower, depending on the juice.

Until someone develops a mod that can read your mind, I can't see how the OP's wishes re even technically possible.

In fact, the desire of the OP--that someone else will make all his vaping decisions for him, and relieve him of any responsibility for his own eperience--is one one the fundamental problems with society today. He's not describing some sort of technological weak point in the development of mods--he is describing a moral and ethical weak point in the development of human culture--the desire to relinquish personal responsibility for the false promise of some "authority" making everything right FOR you.

I personally find the idea that some mod is going to self-adjust to where some anonymous programmer thinks the "perfect vape" is for me to be morally repulsive...

Sorry to be a pain, but again, this is incorrect. It simply suggests 5.2 Watts no matter what you put on it. 1.8 Ohm coil, 5.2 Watts - 3.0 Ohm coil, 5.2 Watts. It's just a "safe suggestion" if you will, in no way dynamic or intelligent, simply just a static message you will get every time you connect a coil.

It's not really a "marketing gimmick". Unlike most people who are verbal here on ECF...I prefer a much cooler vape than most (at least so it appears). For me 7 watts is WAY over the top for the type juice I vape...a strong peppermint infused menthol. I only vape the one flavor, which I mix myself. I do get "moods" where I want a bit stronger hit...and for that I favor 2ohm on 3.7 volt batteries. If I want a more gentle vape in the range I use the most then I'll use that same 2ohm cartomizer on an eGo, which is regulated at about 3.4 volts. Needless to say my watt preference tends to hover in the 5-6 watt +/- range. MUCH lower than many that post here. I know some who go on about vaping 11 watts and higher. That is not for me!

I have 3ohm cartos for my VV devices. That way I have more "play"...but never venture above 4.5 volts, and usually hover around 4 volts.. I use the 2ohm for my mechanicals, and, as mentioned, my regulated 3.4 PVs.

That would prove "weak" for many here. But it's right for me. It's all personal preference. Depends on what you like, how important a clean flavor is to you, if you like a warm/hot vape or a cooler one, what type juice you vape, etc. There is no way one could really predict what is going to be the "right" watts for anyone. A suggestion can be made...but everyone has different needs and tastes.

eVic...eVic....eVic...
It's calling to you...
Come closer...
Buy me...Buy me....!:p

Really, your question was why don't they make a smart battery...
Because it would be dumb !
18650s, 18350s and such would not know what device they were put in...like a flashlight, and might try to reduce or increase power.
Or, they would be 'proprietary' to Vaping, and cost a lot more than regular batteries.

That is a good point about the eVic, it does 'read' the atomizers ohms and suggests a setting...
But that can be exceeded...like I did last week when I stuck my eGo-c cart and cone on my eVic.
I cranked it up...nice vape for like three minutes...until it popped.
